tomorrow morning in austin

the austin american statesman has been doing a daily countdown of their top 25. today is #2 oregon, which either means we're their pick for #1, or we're not in their top 25.
while it's not a surprise, it's nice to know tomorrow morning's cup of coffee will be somewhat painful to endure for a lot folks here in austin.

people here are hoping, but i don't think i've ever seen lower expectations for october 8.

I've had some casual fans forget that they went 5-7 last year. Good thing I was around to remind them...
The people who follow football closely are hoping for a winning season, a bowl game and for Mack to leave.

As I posted last year, we will clean their clock and make them like it. Last year we did clean their clock everywhere but on the scoreboard.

Interesting fact in the article, not something I had heard before.

Texas will win 8-9 games this year and make us sweat in Dallas.
Lots of talent now refocused with young dynamic coaches...unless
Gilbert really is bad, in which case they are truly screwed.

Agree totally. Their athletes are still elite and those new coaches' focus and hunger will translate to the players. It will be a test. (I hope it's a blowout!) :D

7-5. They have a problem at WR (another left this week, along with another TE) and this will only complicate the QB issue for them. New Offensive coordinator, New Defensive coordinator will create a longer learning process. Though could easily be 8-4 ...Red River Rivalry is always a toss up.

IMO, 7-5 is about the best they can do. I would not be surprised if the go 6-6 or go 5-7 again.
If they lose to BYU and UCLA then lose to OU and OSU that's 2-4 and there's no guarantee they can beat ISU in Ames. It is all going to depend on the quality of QB play. If they get decent QB play (which I don't see happening) they may get to 7-5, however if they are 2-4 after OU and OSU and they get beat bad in both games, the team may tank the rest of the season.
