ou should stick a fork in a recruiting rival *

  • and i ain't talking about ut or atm.
this is a great opportunity for ou to absolutely doom osu back to mediocrity .
why they don't kill an instate rival is beyond me.
ou holds a lot of the cards in a possible move to the pac. simply tell the pac that ou is on their own and they would prefer not to have osu in the conf..
    why give osu legitimacy ??

Do you really think that the OU administration views OSU in the same light as OU fans?

In case you are wondering, the answer is no.

The problems we face today exist because those that work for a living are out numbered by those that vote for a living.

  • I think some OU fans are worried about OSU taking on a more competative edge. Actually, I think it is refreshing that OSU has become less of team that is always in our shadow. It just makes football more interesting and the Big 12 a stronger conference. Right now, with Texas down right now, the conference needs a strong OSU. I hope they beat Texas Aggies.

  • Would it be good for our state if osu were in a less conference? I know that it would possibly help seperate OU from osu but do we really need that? It seems like there would be more downside implications to our state in general than upside with OU seperating more from osu. Just a thought.

    Yup.

OU and OSU are state institutions and as such they are not all that autonomous. It is good for the state if the idiot stepchild flourishes as well in OUr shadow.

Plus, when they start having delusions of grandeur it is fun to crush their dreams around Thanksgiving

  • Interesting points from Alan and more confirmation that Joe C and Boren absolutely blew a golden opportunity last year. Why they couldn't predict this behavior by Texas is baffling and a little troubling. Especially since every other living, breathing human being could. Even if Texas hadn't concocted this LHN with ESPN the Big 12 is clearly a weaker conference without Neb and Colorado.

Now we find ourselves with less bargaining power and a host of also-rans who want to replace Texas A&M banging on the doors. BYU, AFA, Houston, Pitt? I'm embarrassed as an OU fan that these names are even coming up in conversation.

Chip Brown is reporting this morning that OU is trying to hold the Big 12 together. Baffling, baffling.

What Texas and OSU should do, want to do, are going to do etc. should never even be part of the conversation. We should have learned that lesson last year.

  • Calm down. This is all message board speculation. Noone on here knows what the inner discussions by OU were last year or what is happening now. I think Boren is politically savvy enough to handle OU's interest. I'm not judging OU's position based on message board rumors and speculation.

That sounds like an awful idea. Why would you want to discard a rival that makes sports so much fun around here. Some of you people kill me wanting to leave OSU and Texas behind when that makes absolutely no sense at all.

Play OSU and Texas out of conference and have the best of both worlds.

When you look at the big picture of college football since 1936, no program has achieved greatness as consistently as Oklahoma - ESPN.
