cant wait to kick some leprochan butt

  • we've been waiting years for this. I hope OU can be as fired up as they were against the whorns. And hope Mike can put together a plan for the ages. I'd like to see 63-0. hope Josh gets the memo again

  • OU will be fired up and feel this will be a good game but 63-0 is a good dream to have. They will come in here confident not scared like TEXASS but in the end the cream will rise to the top as their D is drained in the second half.

  • We will be very "up" for this game. Coaches and players will be focused during this game.
The ND players and coaches will be lost with what we come up with during this game. They can't cover all of our great receivers and won't be able to stop our RBs, especially in the 2nd half. Our D will be the best they have faced and our footprints will be on every ND O linemen's back.
I know you can't tell but I'm pretty pumped and confident we'll win this one!

  • I know we still need to get by BYU this week before we worry about OU, but I thought I'd pop on and ask why you think you'll have a better second half against us? We finish games strong and with the exception of Michigan, I would say we've dominated in the second half. Sounds like you feel the same way about the Sooners. Not saying you won't do it, but I doubt it'll be easy.

Either way, I look forward to a good game and hopefully some level-headed discussion beforehand.

  • you have never played a up tempo like OU runs. Your D will be sucking air, amound other things, after the 2nd quarter.

I know, I know, you think you can keep up with the jones's. Just wait , you'll see.

  • ......this is going to be a very tough game against a very physical nd on the los..........I just hope it turns out better than the only nd game I saw in person....1966, I'm 16 yo sitting in the end zone with my dad. Both teams undefeated..............when nd came out for pre-game people marvelled how big they were and how skinny we looked. We hung with them for about a quarter 'til granville liggins was injured, then the roof caved in 38-0. ND went on to play in the famous 10-10 tie at Mich St and the nat'l championship. Ara Parseghian and several AA's on that team.

  • they are way more physical (ala kstate but better talent) on both lines vs anyone weve played and have the best lb in the country. they will not be intimidated and i think itll be a hard fought game. hope we get the W.

    This!
Sorta like when Bama came in in the early 2000's. A close, hard-fought game. Yet the Sooners will prevail in a great game. Count on it.

  • ND is a great institution and will be a physical challenge. They have a very good defense. Now, I think we have the potential to dominate on defense; we have a lot of speed on D.

It should be a heck of a game. Really looking forward to watching two of the most tradition rich programs in all of college football.

Hope you enjoy your time in Norman.

I love having level headed pregame chats with opposing teams. It's a great way to meet new people and there's nothing better than talking sports. Any chance you'll be making it to Norman?

To answer the question, I'm kinda the opposite of most. If OU jumps out early then look out it snowballs very fast. If its a close dog fight then I'll be skeptical and nervous, only because we really don't have many of those. The no huddle does wear out defenses, and our quick throws all but eliminate the pass rush. I hope this doesn't bite me in the butt but the ND offense, outside of Eifert doesn't worry me much. ND will break a few runs here and there but our bend but don't break defense has been exceptional this year. I think its like the KSU game, ND must get turnovers and maybe even a defensive score to win the game. That's just my opinion.

    SoonerSeif

  • They are a VERY well coached team.

They probably have not faced what they will in 11 days or so yet but that comparison to K-State seems accurate.

I think we win... if we don't relax in 3rd and 4th qtrs because I'll think we'll jump out to nice lead.

I hope I'm wrong, though. I hope we kill 'em.

All these teams they have beat are not, or don't appear to be, as good as they were assessed in preseason.

    That's who I am... a Sooner.

  • Thanks for the feedback. I think our defense is better than expected and that's kept us in a lot of games. It's also given coach Kelly the chance to develop Golson a little more slowly. We seem to have a totally different mindset this year of controlling the clock, staying patient on offense, and trusting the D. It's led to some frustration because we expected Kelly to bring his spread offsense from Cincinatti.

Our best rushing outputs came against some weaker defenseive lines, but the Stanford output from the running game was an encouraqging sign. Eifert has had a down year because he's the focus of the D, and that's allowed some other WRs to shine, but there doesn't seem to be a rythym yet in the passing game and that worries me.

We haven't done a lot of QB read and I have to wonder if Kelly is saving something for the OU game. Golson is able to extend plays and throws well on the run. He's getting more comfortable running, but just had 3 fumbles against Stanford so it'll be interesting to see how he bounces back this week.

I'm sure are many conversations to come in the next week. Here's to a good game cheers.

Living in Canada Granville Liggins was one of toughest players ever to play in the Canadian Football league.

    canuck118

  • thxs.........liggins was cat quick at nose guard. If my memory is correct, in the 1966 ou, tex game there was a play where the tx center snapped the ball and liggins was so quick he leapt over the center and destroyed the play before it got started. First win over tx in years.

If you go to google, type in Granville Liggins name, there's a really good write up on him.

Kansas usually takes care of that on their own. They're a bad team.

  • I'm looking forward to this game as well. It's kinda funny all these teams we played this year say how ND hasn't faced anything like them yet. Now I read it on here. We seem to be doing ok against teams we 'haven't seen yet'. You guys have a high octane offense, but I have lots of confidence in our D. They won't be tired. Been conditioned very well. Our offense is what worries me. Having a hard time getting it going consistantly. 1 promising thing is that QB Everett Golson seems to play well at night and on the road. If that holds true I like our chances in Norman, and at USC. Good luck fellas.

  • they have a really good front 7, if we can give Landry time to throw he can pick apart their secondary

our defense is pretty good and getting better each week...I expect them to come out and set the tone early

31-17 type win for the sooners IMO

we will be the best offense they've faced and we're bringing a defense on par with theirs

  • Here are the rankings in scoring offense/defense of the teams Notre Dame faced.

    Navy 107/40
    Purdue 45/71
    Mich St 102/14
    Mich 37/23
    Miami 62/93
    Stanford 60/35

OU's offense is ranked 9th in scoring, 28 slots higher than the best offense ND has played.

And we rank 20th in scoring defense. Had our offense not allowed three turnovers-for-TDs, we'd be 7th (I know, I know -- ifs and buts).

Another 21 of the points we've allowed have come in the final five minutes of games in which we had big leads, after we'd pulled our starters. Take those away, and we're 2nd in the nation in scoring defense, just ahead of ND. Also, our defense has faced three teams in the top 16 in scoring offense. The best offense ND's faced ranks 37th.

  • I hope the leprochans dont think we are going to throw rose petals down for you to walk on. We might share some bar b que and beer, but after that we're gonna kick your little green butts all the way back to indiana.

And yes, we are going to run up the score . Can you say 42 to 6

And that 250 lb is gonna look like a fool trying to cover a 4.3 receiver crossing the middle

I don't rally care for rose petals, but the bbq and beer sounds good.

I really don't understand how all these people keep saying they (MSU, UM, Miami and now Oklahoma) are going to score on our D all game, but so far, not a single TD has been scored. I know your offense is really good, but a great defense can shut down an offense more times than an offense goes crazy on a great defense. Should be a great game, and definitely a measuring stick for our team.

Not sure if you are saying 250 pounds or 250 linebacker. If you are trying to say Manti Te'o is going to look like a fool covering a 4.3 receiver crossing the middle...roflmao I feel sorry for any of your receivers that come across the middleflex. Manti has always been good, but this year he seems to be playing on a different level. ninja

Those are the 102nd, 37th and 62nd-ranked offenses you're grouping us with. In Norman, you'll be facing the 9th-best offense in the country (we'll probably be ranked higher than that, actually, after Saturday's games) in only your second road game of the season.
