blame jones all you want

  • but he had no help.
    no running game
    no line play
this comes down to not being a physical football team...........period

jones is not peyton manning. he cannot put a team on his back. few qb.s can. most need help and he got none .
this is on this staff and their decision to play flag football

  • I am not sure the OU offense tried very hard at the beginning of the game to run the ball. The few times they ran the ball OU did a good job. But you are right, Jones is not Manning

    allgonzo

  • nor did he have the intestinal fortitude to put a team on is back and carry the load. Doing those type of things gives the players around you confidence. That is what true leaders do when the chips are down and your team needs you. Ever since he lost Ryan, he has not carried the same body language on the field. It's very obvious.

  • I'd like to see the ypc.

Jones deserves his fair share of the blame. He wasn't good and wr's deserve some too.

Coaches deserve more than any of them

I agree, excellent point. I like Landry but he just doesn't have any fire and zero mobility. The turnover in the 2nd Qtr was a game changer.

  • Landry and his stupidity started this landslide. Did you watch the game?

10-0, we are looking to get points and Landry craps himself and coughs it up. Landry threw a pick in red zone, Landry fumbles again for an OSU TD, Landry threw another pick.

The D had actually played well until Landry imploded. Landry and Josh H deserve 99% of the blame.

    OUembalmer

  • Yeah, he had nothing to do with the 2 ints and 2 fumbles for TDs. No blame on him. Everyone else's fault!

    Irish Sooner

  • The blame game starts with our coaches, and that includes Bob Stoops. This team was not prepared to play on offense or defense.

Jones is just as guilty as anyone. While it's true that he didn't have much help, he did almost nothing to help himself. That was one of the worst performances by an OU quarterback in my memory! I was screaming for Blake Bell before the end of the third quarter. And why not? He couldn't have possibly been any worse.

    DandyD

  • His receivers had so many drops it was impossible to sustain a drive.

  • guys i'm trying to make a point.

we have a qb that cannot carry this team the way the offense is constructed.

we have to do things differently

like like maybe be physical and run the ball more.

  • Anybody that places the blame on Landry for tonight is an IDIOT.

    hutchsalthawk

  • Jones blew it directly with all his turnovers and he had plenty of time to throw the ball early in the game and simply failed. They were moving the ball just fine. And the D was playing plenty well enough up to half time to be ahead or winning.

So you think Landry played well tonight? You my friend are the IDIOT.

    rob9618

  • no .....jones didn't play well.

the point is .......he needs help to play well and this staff refuses to see it

    nisakat2

  • Well, if we cannot depend on our record setting QB to make a difference, who can we count on? LJ "I am Second"...his admission. With that thought process, no wonder we lose to inferior teams.

Easily his poorest game since he became a starter.

I think you're forgetting about the Nebraska game in '09.....but that's neither here nor there. Landry played poorly, we had some horrible drops, we made no effort to establish a running game in the first half, and that's just the beginning. I actually thought we played decently in the secondary. It REALLY hurt not having Ronnell Lewis or F Alexander at full speed. We got zero pressure on Weeden.

Not to beat a dead horse but it is very curious how late Frank was in the game last week.

Most ill prepared team OU has put on the field since Blake's days.

LJ wasn't getting much help either. OSU D line in his face all night. Too many dropped passes to count; the recievers were'nt helping him at all.

Try watching this game at a Christmas party with a bunch of OSU hating and gloating fans all night. Just got back and it sucked! You'd think they were 8 and 1 instead of the other way around!

What I noticed was LJ never quit was still trying at the end and his recievers were still dropping balls. The O line couldn't block worth a hoot and the D line never got any pressure on Weeden. Not one turnover!

For the dimwits who say LJ can't run, he can - the coaches don't want him to nor will they let him because there is no one behind him right now. Talent yes but no one with playing experience. Yelling for Blake Bell is flat stupidity. He's not playing for a reason, if he was better than LJ he would have been playing all year long. LJ just hasn't had a receiver step up for him since Ryan got hurt and that's a fact.

Give it to OSU they dominated both sides of the ball and this just might be enough to get them into the big game.

The loss tonight was a total team effort players and coaches.

I agree with you 100%. Anyone who is laying all of the blame on LJ for this loss has zero intelligence about football. Sure he didn't have his best game but this loss was a total team effort. Receivers dropping balls, line not picking up blitzes, not run blocking, linebackers couldn't get off blocks. I could go on and on but the bottom line is everyone collectively contributed to this loss and I will lay the biggest blame on the coaches. Remember the fish always stinks from the head down.

Drops happen when 95 mph fastballs are high and behind. They happen when they are forced into tight coverage who was there for the strip.

    Deep Red

  • Anytime OU is embarrassed at this level no one player can possibly field the blame. LJ played very poor, but the team broke down in every position. Laying blame at any one position would show how little someone knows about football.

Poorly prepared team, and they showed no spirit to fight. This was a very disappointing season.

    Sooner5020

  • 50% of Landrys "drops" are just because the WR touched the ball. He has been throwing high, low, behind, in front of, not hitting wr's in stride, etc, etc..

There has been some drops but the crappy passes have been glaring also. He is a 3 year starter, he should have a calming effect on a team. He has just the opposite effect, he panics, flips shit and falls apart.
