We need a great recruiter and LB coach. I'd love the other Mark Stoops to join...I think the three bro's could kill.

Does Mark coach LBs or DBs? Either way, I doubt he would leave his gig running the defense at FSU to be co-coordinator at OU, even to be with both of his brothers.

There was another thread about this last week.
I have no idea what kind of recruiter he would be, IMO (which I know doesn't count) but Mike Singletary would be a good choice if we could get him away from the Vikings. He's LB coach and assistant HC. Pay is not as good, but Security has to be better than in the pros.

Kevin Steele. Proven elite recruiter and LB coach. Not a good coordinator, but a solid position coach.

I don't think Singletary would mesh well with the other coaches. I like the old South Florida coach Leavett who is the LB coach for the 49'ers

I say....rehire the "king" as Recruiting Coordinator!!!!!! Nobody hardly ever beat the "King" in the recruiting game. He as already publicly stated the type of players OU needs to recruit on defense!

HUxtable was hired at Pitt to be the DC this year. I doubt he is an option.

My Gosh! Kevin Steele just got fired and his defense give up 70 pts. to west Virginia. Please put the crack pipe down. That would really be smart give up Venables and hire the guy that he is replacing. Please NO MORE MORON POST!

We need someone that can recruit Texas well. We're beginning to do well more nationally, but we're slipping in Texas.

Dont know if I like the Mark Stoops idea. Not saying he is not a good coach. Just concerned from the stability standpoint. Out of all the current coaches on staff who is mostly likely to leave next year? I can think of least two on the offensive side of the ball. If Mark came...I think we could have a greater chance of losing three coaches in one year..that is never good unless your Texas and you suck!

Jim Leavitt would be idea. Current LB coach at San Fran. Knows Stoops Bros via K-State connection. Snyder disciple. Former head coach. Probably knows a thing or two about Special Teams. Can recruit Florida. I would love it if Leavitt.

I have heard that the first call is to Leavitt, for what it is worth.

Well, excellent coach, but they'll have to work overtime convincing parents he's not going to hit their kid -- even though I think he got screwed on that deal. I believe the player in question and his dad went out of their way to explain that Leavitt didn't hit him.
