Why this new forum

  • Brian, What possible benefit did you see to make you choose this new board. I frankly don't see why anyone would pay for premium info. Troll's can see almost everything and the board is overwhelmingly under featured. Did we jump too soon or was this our only choice.

  • I'm not Brian but I believe it had to do with ESPN not working with any college teams. Look at all the teams that left ESPN. OU Insider couldn't join Scout or Rivals and they are hoping 247sports is the new and up coming recruiting site. I will hold judgment on this board until next year. The site is new and I'm hoping they increase the database and features.

  • I think this is what I have surmised. OUInsider was one of the first boards of this kind. Brian developed it to his own model. They joined one of the leading and inaugural fansites in Scout. That was to give them national recruiting perspectives and a database.

Originally Scout had little demands. Eventually Scout wanted all its sites to configure to their model so that all would look alike and have complete symmetry. OUInsider was unique and I am sure it was about money as contracts were renewed the ante went up.

ESPN comes along and numerous dominant college fan sites from Scout band together and decide ESPN will allow them much more autonomy and their database and the feature of a free access to ESPN Insider and ESPN magazine is a plus. Of course this all became pie in the sky. ESPN never delivered what was promised. Now the original founders of Rivals meanwhile start up another venture and again many of the top fan sites are disgruntled and move to 24/7. I think it is hard to judge what Brian should or shouldn't have done without being privy to all the facts.

I personally have faith in him because he is and has always been very successful in everything he has done. As always there are some features you will miss, some you will like, and some that won't matter. I would ask these same questions down the road and Brian I am certain will give you all your answers.

  • Brian is a sharp guy no question. I just hope somehow they can make things a little easier. The other board was so easy to navigate, post, etc. I'm still learning on the fly.
