Why does the OSU DC always get a bye?

  • I read these critical threads about Brent Venables and watch KSU run up and down the field all night against OSU and he is considered a great DC? KSU ran the ball to the 5 yard line and would have tied the score with OSU if they didn't have to throw the ball 3 times to keep the clock from expiring. If they had 30 more seconds and could have run the ball, they take the game to overtime. BV holds one of the top offenses in the country to a lopside win and he needs to be replaced. I must be living in a fantasy world.

  • Its a story and they are trying to frame it in a positive way for the now #2 team in the country. Last nights score fest however certainly "exposed" an already suspect defense.

  • Your're exactly right with your thoughts. That's the difference between a team thats consistently a contender and a wannabe, the expectations just aren't the same at Stillwater, and the fans and media overlook all the imperfections in any given game. OU performed good enough to win and thats all that matters. All of those bashing the coaches the day after need to find another hobby IMO.

  • No Horseman you are not "living in a fantasy world", but somebody is.... who shall remain nameless.

  • The reason we gripe so much is we are spoiled OU fans and yes, I did include myself. We would like to see OU win every game 75 - 0 but in a real world this is not going to happen. I try my best to support the team through my positive comments to other football fans and friends. I try to go to 1 game a year, so I can feel like I am doing my small part to help finance the great OU football program. If anybody thinks OSU's defense or DC is any better than OU's, they are greatly mistaken. OSU's team reminds me of the Texas Tech team in 2008 and we all know how that team ended up. I hope OU goes to stillwater and plays defense like they can. I hope we have no more injuries.

  • OSU has never had a good defense, let alone a great one. The only stat that counts to them is holding the opposing offense to less than your own offense and in that right OSU has the greatest defense in in their history. This according to OrangePower.

  • The primary anwer to the question is: His players aren't very good.

    Secondary answers are:

1.He is from Oklahoma and has lots of experience.
    2. It's his last gig. He will hang' em up soon.
    3. He has had good defenses at past venues.

  • I didn't even read the stories on the OSU game, but I saw the on-line headlines. It's yet another example of how the DOK tries to make the Aggy feel good about their program, despite the lopsided series edge to OU that makes their fans so obsessed. Add in the general disdain that most of their writers really have for OU, and their bizarro need to make Silo Tech a "feel good story," and you get that blatant bias that only an Aggy will deny exists.

  • Because they are undefeated. OSU has lived through turnovers. That philosophy worked for the Saints a few years ago. IMO, if OSU is unable to generate turnovers, they will be challenged each of the next three games.

  • Only get's a bye from Oklahoma media who are trying to make osu our equal. They love "bedlam".

I don't know about a "bye", but they definitely get a pass.
