We have this new arsenal of receivers who will probably not start to peak until Landry is gone, so do we have the guy on deck who can get them the ball? Anytime you bring up a subject like this and have any opinions, you tend to get torched, so let's not do that. I want Bell to be the guy, but with all the on-the -field experience and success he has had in the Belldozer package, he has had opportunities to throw to an experience tight end, as a surprize element, but not yet succeeded. Maybe that is coming, but it is a concern. He's a talented runner, but does he have the "it" factor to lead the team? Drew Allen has talent at QB but that makes him a one and done guy after Landry graduates. Is that something we want? I doubt it. I was extremely impressed with the way Charles Thompson ended the Spring game for a young guy. He wanted to get his team in the end zone and he had to manage a time clock to make that happen. He got it done and it struck me that just maybe he has that 'it' factor. I got trashed on the board by bringing that up and maybe exonerated a little bit when later the coaching sfaff seemed to share my enthusiasm. I don't know if Charles might prove to be that guy or if Bell may dispell all of our concerns. I sure wish the coaching staff would change their coaching philosophy and start getting our backups the experience thay need to take over if disaster strikes. I know we have a good dual threat type coming in, but it appears they want to bring him along more slowly, or would have let him come in early like he wanted to do. Any friendly thoughts on the subject?
Edit: Yes, I meant son, Kendall rather than father, Charles. Thanks for the heads up.

Charles Thompson? i think you mean Kendall Thompson.
I may be wrong, but I think Bell will win it for 1, or 2 years but the future belongs to Cody Thomas IMO. Trevor Knight could be a great blend of running and passing, but my gut says Thomas.
I think we are poised to have a situation where a QB plays for a year or two starting around their Jr. or Sr. years. We have log jam w/o a clear #1 / AA type.
If Thompson continues improving the way he has, I see him getting the job. I like the other kids but I really think Kendall brings a whole new element to the offense.
KT would bring something different to the offense. However, I think Stoops has been here long enough for everyone to figure out what he wants in a QB. Stoops is from the Big 10. Notice how just about every QB we have had looks a lot like Chuck Long? Tall, pocket passers. Running QB's get hurt and turn the ball over.
Blake Bell and then Cody Thomas.
The good news is that the pipeline at QB is fully stocked at this point. And we only need one to come out and play well. So I think the odds are in our favor that one of them steps up and really excels.
Agree with the Major. I see it being Bell and then KT.
From a potential standpoint its the best grouping of QB's I've seen at OU in a long time.
Bell then Knight
There is really not all that much to discuss. We only have 4 QB's and 1 is leaving after this year. So we really only have 3 QB's in question in the near term. There are mainly two years in question with the current QB group on the roster next year i.e. '13 and '15 are in question
Starter LJ Sr
Back Ups - Allen Jr., Bell So, Thompson Rs Fr, Knight Fr
'13 (BIG QUESTION)
Starter Allen Sr. vs. Bell Jr. Bell would most likely get the nod. If Drew wins, '14 becomes a possible battle b/w Bell and Thompson with Bell the obvious front runner.
Back Ups - Thompson Soph, Knight R Fr, Thomas Fr
Starter - Bell
Back Ups - Thompson Jr., Knight So, Thomas Rs Fr
'15 (BIG QUESTION with little to speculate on)
Starter - Thompson Sr. Knight Jr., Thomas So
This is the real question mark as so little is known about any of these guys.
We could have a situation where a Sr. starts for one year, much like USC i.e. Allen, Bell, and Thompson. I see some transfers coming; it just seems inevitable. I hope I am wrong though.
I dont recall a QB transferring and making it at the school he transfers to, other than aikman

I just have a feeling that Trevor Knight is going to special. Jason White special.
Bell then Knight
Bell then Knight
Its hard to deny the way Thompson handles himself on the field. Even in the under armour game, he was reading, going through progressions and throwing the ball like hed been there before. That showed again in the spring game with his poise. Didnt look like a freshman at all. Itll be telling to see how things go after Jones graduates. I hope we have some games to see Allen and Bell take enough snaps to be able to get a decent sample of whats up with them. I doubt we get to see Thompson but who knows.
My pick to succeed Jones is Allen then after he is gone, I like Thompson. Thompson looks to have what Huepul had when he played.
There is nothing more dangerous in this world than a man with nothing to lose.
The two best professional rookies in 2010 and both from Oklahoma City,Oklahoma.
I know right from wrong. Wrong is the fun one.
