Who's Going to Game at UTEP?

  • Anyone else ready for some college football? I can't wait for 1 Sep to get here. I broke down and ordered my tickets for the game last week. A little pricey for a game at UTEP but OU is their big game of the year and I wanted decent seats. So now that I have my room reservations and tickets set up for that game, I have to start working on tics for the Oct 13 game in Dallas. It's rough living out of state (for attending OU games) but I try to get to 2 or 3 games a year. I think this year could lead to #8 (but I thought that early last year also).

  • Me and a couple of friends are driving down from Norman. Gonna be a long drive.

  • drivin down for game, got a friend who is gettin me tickets , use to be not so bad from lawton, now gotta go thru ft worth and all that traffic, added a 100 miles but i am in no rush, not gonna be like old days where u could go over to juarez and have good eats, but guess they have ruined it, still will be fun seein old friends for couple days

  • I'm driving in from SE AZ so the drive is not bad. Anyone know where the team stays in El Paso? I guess the last time they were there was for the Sun Bowl game against Stanford a few years back.

  • Planning to go down, but staying in Alamogordo, NM, so I can get to Ruidoso that much quicker the next day.

  • El Paso is a long drive from almost anywhere. I live near San Antonio and it's almost 600 miles!! Agree with cldodger...would be nice to visit Juarez but wouldn't make good sense to do that at this time.

  • I'm going . I booked my hotel room and now I am watching for tickets. I hate to pay 3 times face value for tickets.you would think it was against Texas and not utep considering the prices for tickets online. If anyone has a couple available for a reasonable price give me a hollar. Thanks ( and if not I will see you there anyway )

  • Thinking about it.

    1moretimeOU

  • Coming to the game from Eugene Oregon. Making a road trip back thru Vegas!

  • Going........lived in El Paso back in the 80's. As I remember the Sun Bowl is a good place to see a game.

    GCSOONER

  • I'll be there with my daughter and one of her friends. This will be my 71st consecutive game.

  • MH, 71st consecutive game! That's impressive. I could see someone making all the home games for a number of years and maybe some of the away games but 71 in a row both home and away, that's dedication. Congrats.

  • I've been thinking about it for awhile but am not familiar with the area. I figure I can get tickets on gameday but can anyone recommend a decent hotel, restaraunts, and places to visit?

    jnot15

  • I'm staying at the Marriott and it is pretty decent. Most of the hotels in the area are older. This one was renovated a few years back and is still in good shape. There is also a steak house and a Mexican resturant in walking distance. The hotel also serves food and has a lobby bar.

  • We just decided that we are going -- For anyone who may do the same, OU ticket office still had tickets available for this game as of this morning.

    OUhutch

  • I called the ticket office and they are only allowing season ticket holders to purchase the tickets. They suggested buying from utep but they sell through ticket master so the tickets are 3 times as much.

  • I live in Houston. If I drive from here to El Paso, I will be closer to Los Angeles than Houston. Therefore, I will stay at home and watch on TV.

  • One option that may be necessary, if tickets are a problem, is sitting on the hill above the SE side of the stadium. That hill was put to use when UTEP hosted the Evil Empire out of Austin.

Not doing El Paso, but have tickets and hotel rooms for the Dec 1 TCU game. I'm meeting my son who lives in Houston. I'll travel from OKC. Same for texass too.

He found $55 per nite Holiday Inn for only $55 per night for TCU. Bargain hunt now for great hotel rates before some of these cities get what's going on...ie Fort Worth.

Wasn't there an incident on that hill, involving a guy, his girlfriend and.... Her hand? Lol

Thanks SWS, but for me every game is an away game as I live in Aurora, Colorado.

Saw your post on down about where your staying and I stayed at the Marriott for the Sun Bowl and it is a nice hotel. I would recommend it to anyone. This time will be staying at the Airport Courtyard by Marriott.

Fortunately, I don't know anyone that was wounded or killed, however, I'm friends with a couple of families that aren't so lucky. Thanks for your prayers for the victims and the Aurora community.

That is correct. It occurred during the UTEP-UT game a few years back, and it also wound up on YouTube. It was PG though (blanket hid the "incident" that caused that hill to earn its off-color nickname).
