There is nothing more dangerous in this world than a man with nothing to lose.
It irks me just a bit the way he couches some of these things. "...it's part of what we built here..."
No, Bob. Quit acting like you are just a victim of your own success. Those expectations were here before you had cut any teeth and they will be here long after we are all dead and buried, presuming college football is still being played. The expectations were part of the deal when you signed on to coach here; and they were emboldened, highlighted and underlined every time you used the prospect of leaving for another job as leverage to improve your own situation (a point that Alan H was very astute to raise).

It has nothing to do with parity, but it does have to do with recruiting and coaching. We are still OKLAHOMA and that is a heckuva starting point with recruits. It is, without question, one of two things:
Either we aren't recruiting elite enough players at ALL positions or we aren't coaching them up successfully enough to be successful at their jobs. It's one or the other.
Unless you're a freshman, you should NEVER line up out of position. Just sayin'...
Our recruiting, particularly in the non glamorous positions, has been sad...really sad, as of late.
when it comes to recruiting i always look at the teams we're competing against for a certain player.
when you look at our o-line and def. front 7 the past 3 or 4 years we have been competing against programs like mizz. , tech , osu , ect. are there some exceptions ......yes.
i talking about teams that actually make an offer.
