We move up this week in the BCS

  • We will be no lower than #5 after Boise's loss...now we need Stanford to go down and we will be #4

    Let's go Ducks!!!

  • I wouldn't be surprised at all if Oregon passes us in the BCS this week if they win. They are fairly close, and they are behind because of the computer poll avg. That will bump up close to ours, and since they are higher in the human polls and likely to gain a few additional votes from us for us having a bye week. But this is the best situation for us. I think a win over an undefeated OSU at the end will vault us back ahead.

  • We also have a road game against a ranked opponent next week too. Oregon may pass us temporarily, but if we win out, our destiny is back in our own hands......if Stanford does lose this game.

  • Every poll with people have Oregon above us, but "forever" I believe you are correct. Our only hope is that osu continues to win, and so does Florida State. They may be our saving grace. Wins on the road against top 25 are key. Beating fsu, ksu, baylor, osu all on the road is our only way in...

As long as OSU wins out and OU beats Iowa State and Baylor convincingly, then beats OSU, I think OU would pass Oregon and Alabama to be in the N.C. I doubt if anyone wants a rematch of LSU and Oregon.

  • You might be right we will have to wait and see how it shakes out. I think Oregon is going to be one spot ahead of us in both the Harris and USA polls. I do think however that the computers like us a little better than they do Oregon. I think the BCS is going to look like this after this week ends games. 1. LSU, 2. Okie St, 3. Alabama, 4. OU, 5. Oregon, 6. Arkansas.
With Alabama in the number three spot it’s going to be one of those years if everybody except OSU wins out. There will be a lot of speculation by all the talking heads but it will come down to will the voters vote in a team that didn’t win its conference or play in its championship game. Also how high will they vote us for beating the number two team in the BCS.
There is a lot of football still to take place and all the speculation this time of the year will come to knot by the end of the year most likely. I think there is a good chance that LSU will drop a game before the year is over. They still have to play Arkansas who is starting to play some pretty good football of late. If they make it past Arkansas it looks like they will have to play Georgia in the Championship game and they are starting to look pretty good. I think the best thing that could happen as far as we are concerned would be for Arkansas to beat LSU late in the year and bring who goes to the championship game into question. Then have whoever goes to the championship game get beat by Georgia. If that happens I don’t see how they could vote a two loss team in or for that matter a one loss team that didn’t get to go to the championship game that the team that beat them got beat in.
Yep a lot of football left and nothing to do but to ride this old horse until it drops or we cross the finish line. Tell me one more time just how did we let TT beat us to put us in this mess in the first place?

I can tell you that the Sagarin rankings moved Oregon all the way up to 4, and Arkansas to 5, and left us at 6, same as last week. Sagarin was one of the lowest rankings for us last week though, and the formula tosses out the highest and lowest computer ranking in the average, so maybe we will get some respect in the other comp polls.

    Section13Sooner

  • I don't like that Sagarin poll at all. Why does its seem like OU gets screwed more than anybody for a bye week?

We get to move up 2 spots in both polls and 1 in the BCS on a bye week. Yes Oregon passed us but I think this is going to work in our favor for having beaten a #2 undefeated team on their home field.

We will pass Oregon and Bama IMO.

Maybe Oregon loses to USC next week

Never in my life have I rooted for USC, but will be next week. I also agree with the possibility of Arkansas beating LSU.

I rooted for USC against Stanford and once again I will root for them against the Ducks...they couldn't get it done before maybe they do now

would be huge for us if they did

  • I am one big time fickle routers. Last night for the first time in a long time I was a big time Oregon backer in that game. Now I’m a big USC fan when they play Oregon. I’m also a big Arkansas and Georgia fan if and when they play either Alabama or LSU. In fact for the foreseeable future I’m a big fan of whoever is playing Oregon, Alabama and LSU.

You know a lot of people do not like our current system but you got to admit it makes for an exciting finish and most of the time it shakes out correctly.

Even if we win out and beat the supposed #2 team in the country? Again I got to say what a fan!

Let it go already. It's in the past, can't change it now. Nobody deserves anything. You have to earn it over the entire season. And by winning out, we would be in that conversation of who has earned that right.
