We gave it away

  • Oklahoma has given away a national championship appearance.
    It was simply ours for the taking. Tech and Baylor. Really?
    I put it on the coaches. Shamefull, and wastefull.

    Though it has been said before many times today the defensive
    coaches are responsible, as usual in these "upsets."

    And nothing changes.

    Maybe you should apply for the Defensive Coordinator! I am sure you can do much better.

  • Yeah whatever you do, don't say anything bad, only good stuff.

    I'm sorry but in any business when something is lacking you point it out, you address it and you try and fix it. We've been seeing the same stuff year after year and its been going on for a while. We lose games we are not supposed to. Year after Year. Thats a problem, not the end of the world but definately a problem.

    We need a off line coach and a New CO-Def Cord. Plain and simple. Brent is great with the linebackers and the run game but he is seriously lacking in pass support and we need to be able to pound the ball to help the D out more.

  • Texas got a bunch of new coaches. Florida did as well. Indiana too.

  • It was a team loss including offense, defense and coaches. Wasn't impressed with any of them. Any Big 12 QB could (and probably has) thrown for 350+ yards against the Bear D. Our D missed tackles, got beat deep and then late the linemen couldn't stay in their rush lanes. LBs didn't do anything either. The coaches didn't prepare the team very well and don't make game adjustments. That said, STs played very well and the Belldozer play was A OK.

  • Didn't say a bunch, I said two, I also remember when Texas replaced their defensive Cord and went on to win the National Championship the next year. Infact I also believe that is how Stoops made his hay. One year Florida gets dominated by Nebraska, next with a change at Def cord they win the whole thing. I never said get rid of Venables but he needs help.

    We need to run the ball better and we need to play better defense behind the front 7.

  • You know what, I'm okay with us not getting our shot at the NC. I'm tired of backing into Championship opportunities, especially for the BIg 12. It sure would be nice to go out on a consistent basis and take our opponents by the throat and leave no doubt that we deserve it. I hate having to rely on others to butter or bread. That's my wish!!!

  • I agree. We haven't had a great defense since Mike Stoops left for Arizona and I will be shocked if we ever win a National Championship while Venables is here. Our D is very inconsistent and this has been a problem for years.

    This D relies so heavily on dominant DTs, as does any great D. Let's hope the Jordan bros (Wade & Phillips) come on strong next year because our current cast of characters have been serviceable for most of the year. We need dominant!

    McFarland was supposed to be next in line. He's been okay, but based on the hype, a bust.

  • We are the best team in the state. The pressure/high expectations will be way too much for OSU, and their defense hasn't exactly been stellar 'anytime'!

    Agree with all your comments. They deserve a plus up.

    The PC croud is trying to control the free expression of ideas on this board. If you don't agree with them your labeled as not a true OU fan. Your only a "so called fan".

    Twit? Because I don't agree or like whats been going on since Sam Bradford went to Colorado and lost to a horrible Buff team. Ok ..... feel better? Come up with some more great Cliche's and I promise we will all be impressed.

    Don't care about other teams, Dont care about the Big 12, I don't jump in other teams back pocket to make myself feel better. This is what I see going on. Everyone makes mistakes but to keep making the same mistakes over and over is not acceptable.
