Very Strong Words From PSU Board

I guess they are pretty upset about losing Brown.

  • I'd suggest they are acting no different than any fan base would under the circumstance. If the tables were turned, would we feel any different? It is a shame that all the repercussions fall unto students, fans and players who had nothing to do with it. As for Brown, it was his choice to leave, and who can blame him. He has only one more year left to play, in an offense that is challenged at best. Here he has a chance to show what he can do with a QB that can actually get the ball to him and to play for something that might mean something, a conference championship and a shot to be on a NC team.

Its just a few bad fans--we all have them.

  • OP is getting heat from a few of his fellow PSU fans, rightfully so. I do want to respond to his dig about our "OU education", but for now I'll refuse to take the bait. For all that St. Paterno did for his program, he deserves to be mad for a decade or so.

If I were to post in reply, I would mention that our program takes out the trash when their deeds come to light. And it's an awful shame he can't say the same for his school.

  • How many players has Penn State lost? I know there best running back went to USC and there best receiver went to OU.

  • I read plenty of strong words from the kinds and parents of the kids who were the real victims in this horrible situation. Penn St fans are delirious.

    allgonzo

  • I think they've lost close to 10 so far. Any fan of PSU should just shut up and let things die down. The sad part is that guy really thought he made a great point.

That might be a shame if it were true.

OK, let's follow the bouncing ball here.

Brown, (who has 75% of a Penn State education in 'Happy Valley'), is smart enough to know that, 'something don't look, (feel, smell, etc), so good to me.'

So this 3/4 PSU grad decides to go somewhere else. He alone chooses to come here, and calls to see if we'd take him.

We say, 'yes, if you really want to come,' and he decides to do so.

So the guys that maybe aren't so quick to figure out that something stinks in 'Happy Valley' throw mud at us for giving asylum, and using an 'OU education' as their taunt?

Looks like this genius (as a result of a PSU education), figures he must be moving up, not down on the food chain. So, we're left to ponder:

If PSU students are so damn smart, why is this PSU guy doing something so dumb?

I don't know, but something doesn't line up.

  • How does it become an OU issue now that a student athlete has decided to transfer with no penalty to give himself a better chance at his potential NFL career? The NCAA put the sanctions on PSU, not OU. We had a ship available and he asked for it. What's the problem? Now we are the a-holes because of it? Makes no sense. If I were in his shoes or any of those kids shoes I would exit as well. Why continue to play for a school that can't even sniff at a championship for 4 years? I wish that school the best especially because those kids are being punished for crimes they did not commit, but it's sad that the fan base cannot accept that the situation is out of anyones control and these kids have to do what is best for them and their future. It doesn't require a college education to have common sense and common courtesy.

  • Who cares what anyone at PSU thinks? Just a tempest in a tea pot, a very dirty tea pot.

  • These guys have to realize that the players were all recruited to PSU via Paterno's 'Grand Experiment,' and certainly it's accompanying 'morality', prestige of the program as well as W/L records, were a huge part of the selling points.

Now, most of those 'selling points' are gone.

Paterno was discovered to be covering up a series of despicable crimes to enable the reputation and glory of PSU to continue.

Instead of prestige now people just wince when you say 'We Are PENN STATE!' (We don't see those ads on TV anymore since the June verdict do we?)

Championships and won - loss records also look to be diminished. Maybe considerably.

So much of what these guys came to Penn State for no longer exists. So how can anyone blame some of them that are so sick they want to just leave and forget about it. After all, almost every player there had multiple offers.

The majority of them probably agonized over the final choice. Do these PSU people really believe they could go back 3 - 4 years and have the same success recruiting IF these same players knew then what they know now?

I pretty much agree but I would point out plenty of Penn State fans said the original guy was wrong and not helping anything. I suspect Penn State fans are a lot like OU fans. They love their team and are very upset about it. Naturally some of them are going to say stupid things but I bet the vast majority are rational people that you and I would like if we knew them.

This is so true IMO. First and foremost I feel horrible for the victims of Sandusky and then I feel sorry for the fans. Football is not the most important thing in most of the world but is very much a way of life in places like Norman and not so Happy Valley.

  • If the Penn State fans really think Brown is thinking about school good luck. He is thinking about this offense and the opportunity because of some stupid receivers. No more no less. Same for their running back who went to USC where they have a need.

  • While it is very true that PSU is a much better school than OU, Brown is making a football decision. I can't blame him. I also can't blame some of the fans for lashing out due to major anger and frustration. Their program is in turmoil but will hopefully bounce back. It is not fair to all of the fans, alum, students, etc. to be punished because of Sandusky. He was the idiot.

  • Exactly! Bingo! Get the man a CIGAR!

Also what Penn St fan forgets is that Bob Stoops didn't show up on their CAMPUS like some 21st century Carpet Bagger! This kid approached US! They can save their vitriol for Illinois and some of those other pathetic clowns who were hanging around the dorms.

  • The biggest insult would have been he could play for OU this year but PSU would have to give him his degree.

  • maybe i missed it. but the dude that started the thread seems to be aiming his frustration at a comment or something that happened, did i miss this? i feel bad for PSU and their situation, but to make some of the comments he makes in the opening thread makes him look like a complete douche.
