Trey Millard/Aaron Colvin = BIGTIME

  • just wanted to comment on the two true sophs Trey Millard and Aaron Colvin

Millard = potentially the best fullback to ever play at OU----and I do not think I am overstating it
    Big, physical, versatile and athletic
without question more potential at the position than any player of the Stoops era

Colvin----as Stoops said "when they gave out HS star ratings they missed bigtime" or whatever the quote was

simply the best cover safety OU has has in the Stoops era as I thought his coverage skills were potentially the best at corner too.

I think BOTH of these guys have the ability to play their positions as well as any Sooner on the current squad at any other position

they will both be among the best in America at their positions

  • Both have a great deal of pofential and have big roles in the upcoming season. If Colvin can really adapt to safety it will go a long ways to providing OU the tools needed to defend the many spreads they will see this year. Millard brings a physical side to the offense that is truly needed to win the big one. Needs some more carries this yeAr.

  • I think Millard is a really good player as is Colvin. Best FB in OU history however is a pretty big statement. Kenny King, Lydell Carr just to name a couple come pretty quickly to mind.

Add J.D Runnels to that list too.

I know right from wrong. Wrong is the fun one.

  • Millard may not be able to showcase his ability like King did, but I agree that he has everything you want as a FB. His career in the NFL will prove it too.

Love what Colvin brings. Considering it's Martinez's 2nd season, I believe the secondary will be better this year.

  • BrianPASooner.... how old are you? If your history with OU only dates back to the early 90s then Millard is definitely the best FB prospect. But EVER at OU? You do know we ran the wishbone back in the 70s and 80s don't you? That was a position that we normally had amazing talent at FB under Coach Switzer.

In Brian's defense, he did say that Millard is "potentially" the best FB ever at OU, which, to me, is much different than saying he alread IS the best ever.

  • oh, my gosh, guys you are forgetting all about Bud's teams, have you ever heard of Jim Grisham?? good grief; he was not stopaple and that was in the day they ganged up to stop the FB first.........his stats won't wow you, but if you ever saw him play when the Ds were stacked you would have been amazed.

Why is it that Millard cannot rise to that level? I don't think anyone is asserting that Millard IS the best FB ever at OU, but that he COULD be after such an impressive true freshman season.

  • Dont forget Stanley Wilson. He rates right up there with the best, but i agree, Millard cold be the best by the time he is done. he is a stud.

  • I have been watching OU since 1971 (will be 49 in June)

King was a halfback playing fullback.

Owens would probably be the best of my era(I realize that is the late 60's)

Waymon Clark was a halfback playing fullback

Runnells does not have the athleticism of Millard

L Carr was nowhere hear as big

cannot comment on Bud's teams but Mr Millard has MORE overall than any of the guys I just named at the fullback positions

Millard is 250 folks and runs in the 4.6's and the high school tapes show the agility

Put it this way he is better as a true freshman than any of the guys I listed

Stanley Wilson was not even remotely close in size to Millard

as an overall fullback prospect he has the natural skills to be as good as any OU has ever had -----at least since 1971 when I started watching OU

his combo of size/blocking/athletic ability/ pass receiving and smarts is as good as any that OU has had at this point in his career at the position

Colvin's potential is off the charts too----for today's game with the spread offenses he can be the best safety of the Stoops era---including Roy who did not have to cover spread offenses

  • I have seen all mentioned also and I agree with him. He does have the tools to be the best simply from what he showed as a true freshman. If he progresses every year he will be the best hands down. but he still needs to grow mentally and the coaches (Josh) needs to incorporate him more. You would think Josh would do that because of the way Josh used Seth Littrell in 2000. Seth played a big part in that season.
