With all the depth issues we have and we still strike out on the 4 stars who could see immediate playing time. Can't figure out why we can't use that to our advantage for once.
The two best professional rookies in 2010 and both from Oklahoma City,Oklahoma.
I am just stupified about this! How could we lose someone who has been a heavey OU lean and a legacy? I just don't understand it!
Not even close to a NC? You're kidding me, right. We are 5 plays away from being in the NC game. We have a great group of young men who have fought their hearts out this year. We've been blessed to have them represent us.

Just another reason we should have gone to the SEC. Recruiting would be so much better. It's going to get easier and easier for aTm
Sorry but I am freaking stunned! If we cannot get this kid then we are in deep trouble when it comes to recruiting.
Let's just go beat the living **** out of Texas A&M in the Cotton Bowl!
Sick of the SEC, sick of College Station (an absolute DUMP compared to Norman-OKC), sick of the 'fightin' texas aggies period!
First of all we need to beat anem. Thus beginning to dispel the popular belief the the sec is superior. We would be beating the team that beat the all mighty bama. Secondly, they will hurt texas recruiting even more than ours.
Westlake pretty much beat me to it.

All I can say about losing him is "WOW".
In my opinion, Jackie Shipp needs to be fired. Our d-line was average at best this year with 3 seniors getting the majority of the DT play and then he can't get a commitment from an OU legacy at a desperately needed position. Ridiculous!
As to the younger DT's in the program, the only thing they have going for them is they don't have big shoes to fill. If our talent level was like it was 5 years ago, Jordan Phillips would have been moved to offensive tackle. He has yet to impress me. Plays way too high. And, apparently, he is the best of the newcomer bunch.
Eventually, coaches are going to have to be accountable or this slow, steady decline we have seen over the last 2 or 3 years is going to continue and the difference between us and great teams(alabama) is going to be sickening.
We are not in deep trouble of Manning doesn't commit to OU. The thing that will be most disappointing is that we couldn't land a kid who was a legacy and at one time, had OU as an understandable heavy favorite. As far as Manning the prospect, I am disappointed only in that we badly need DL depth which he could help provide. I honestly don't think that its likely Manning ends up being a dominant D Tackle at this level, like McCoy or Harris. Manning reminds me so much of Jamarkus McFarland. A heavily-hyped, yet undersized D Tackle prospect. Justin Manning is 6'2" 278. MacFarland was 6'3" 280 his senior year. Everyone was excited about his potential, but he was light. Everyone said that he would put on the needed weight, but he didn't. He played his senior season at OU at under 295 pounds. And we know how MacFarland's career turned out. He was a solid, yet unspectacular player. He was a nice contributor, and that's about it. Manning is even smaller than MacFarland was, and I think its doubtful that he will ever have the frame to be dominant player at this level. I may be wrong, but this is how I see it playing out. We may still get Manning before it is all said and done, and I think that would be great! But I would still believe it is highly unlikely that he becomes the dominant force that everyone expects him to be. Honestly, I would be more than happy to trade Manning for Bain, because he already has the frame for a huge gap-stuffer. If we get Bain, and not Manning I would feel great!
Although it is a small chance, Manning giving a verbal to A&M might just be a blessing in disguise. Two months until signing day and A&M now has verbals from 4 HS DTs and needs to keep them all happy. They are all 4 star kids from High School, no JUCOs.
Also, Manning would put them at 33 verbals for what appears to be 25 openings( 77 currently and 17 seniors leaving). Just how many kids are they going to run off? Maybe their OTs and their one good D lineman will go to the draft?
From what I read, they are still after several kids... At what point do they start telling kids they don't have enough room?
It will be interesting to see how this plays out.
We lost this kid last winter when we slow played him.
Stupid move. If we don't get our recruiting turned around in a hurry, we will continue to slide into an average team. That sucks.
There is nothing more dangerous in this world than a man with nothing to lose.
