Sorry for the misleading subject line. The article said something about a bye and I assumed the wrong week.

TCU at home is a much tougher game than traveling to Iowa State. Plus, you've gotta remember when Nebraska and Colorado left and every team had to travel to a place they just went the year before, like OU had to with baylor and OSU, guess who the only team in the conference was that DIDN'T have to go anywhere twice? Texas.

How is that significant?

Texass still had the RRS in Dallas that year (2011), 4 conference home games, and 4 conference away games (it was the first year of the 9 game conference regular season). Their conference road games in 2010 were NU, TT, and KSU. So, to travel to the same place twice, they'd have had to visit either TT or KSU in 2011 since NU was gone. Had they been scheduled to travel again to somewhere they trevelled to the previous season (2010), then one of the games that actually was an away game would have become a home game to offset it. So, had Texass been scheduled to go to Manhatten or Lubbock, then one either, ISU, TA&M, Baylor, or UM, would have had to go to Austin. What difference did it make?

The team that had to travel to Austin twice in a row was OSU, and OSU beat them in Austin both times.

It seems like people just jumped to the conclusion that Texass not having to visit any opponent two years in a row was some sort of special treatment or extra benefit to them, but nobody can articulate exactly how it helped them at all.

That whole line of thought reminds me of how some posters really complained a lot about Texass getting to play TCU and WVU at home last year while OU had to travel to both places. Well, now the reverse is true and TCU really looks like they'll be a much better team than they were last year. Who got the better end of that deal?
