  • really bv is pretty good with a 62nd ranked defense i think not. but will there be any changes made at the end of the season i bet not.

  • It's closer if you look at scoring defense instead of yardage allowed. OU was either 19th or 21st in scoring defense before the Baylor game, I don't remember for sure. It would be interesting if somebody wanted to break down the average offensive rankings of our competition.

  • Considering who Texas plays in their non-conference schedule, no. Top 25? Maybe. Top 10 no way. I said it on another thread. A top 10 D does not give up 50 points to anyone.

    KYSooner

  • Through 10 games the Texas D had given up 23 TD's and the OU D had given up 27 TD's. Texas had also given up 15 fg while OU has given up 11. That's 38 scores against each defense.

  • In conference, where we have defensive issues, OU and Texas play the exact same schedule.

There is no reason why OU can't have even a top 20 defense in this conference.

A top 20 defense in the Big12 is like having a top 10 defense in the SEC.

Ya don't think the two totally different offenses have anything to do with that?

I would like to know the time of possession difference between the two defenses. I think that is a big factor to consider

  • There is no reason OU' s defense should not be comparable to TX. I think LA is right on this one.

When the two teams played the best defense was in crimson not burnt orange.

  • I'm positive it has something to do with it, but not 50 spots positive.

  • I agree. But texas' defense has been improving while OU's has been getting worse or at least very inconsistent

Well they might when they are just getting started with their new DC. They did give up 50 and they are top 10. Both are facts.

  • When ut starts winning the conference again then you can talk about how great they are but as of today they still suck.

Well UGA is #4 and until today when they beat GaTech, they've beaten one team in the top 90 in Offense, Miss St. Wins against:

Coastal Carolina - #90 in FCS division
    Miss State - #87
    Ole Miss - #114
    Tenn - #98
    Vandy - #102
    Florida - #91
    Auburn - #93
    Kentucky - #118

So do they really have the 4th best defense in the country or is it because they've played some of the worst offensive teams in College Football?

    Same for Texas.

I think the OP was talking about statistical rankings and as rankings go, they rank top 10. If you want to talk top 10 in opinion, that brings bias into it and you get nowhere.

I know what OP was saying, but all you are going to hear this week as how UGA has a chance with the #4 defense. They got no chance, they don't even have a "puncher's" chance. LSU is going to beat them by 4 TDs.

IMO, is OSU wins next week and somehow jumps Alabama in the BCS, LSU will beat them just as bad as the beat Arkansas if not worse. I don't think OSU's OL can stand up to the DL of LSU.

    Again, JMHO.
