So not only were the Stoops rumors completely false...

  • But the poor horns just got kicked in the groin (ouch!!). I hear Major might be on his way too. It's a little like a new holiday for my household... cheers

  • I could have told you it wasn't going to be Stoops. I know for a fact, based on my close personal relationship with Stoops developed over years of ripping his coordinators to pieces, that there are only three jobs he'd leave OU for: 1) To become the warden of Shawshank prison. 2) To become the ambassador to Paraguay. And 3) To become the executive producer of the television show Hoarders. Don't believe what you hear about American Pickers. It's those three jobs or nothing.

  • The Stoops rumors have been false every frickin' time yet every time sooner fans decide its time he leaves. ESPN makes this stuff up every time that Stoops is going somewhere (i.e. Schefler said Stoops to ND) and its retarded. What in the history of Stoops' tenure here has he given anyone the idea that he was leaving or that he would just take off like other coaches have. He is here for a while and I think next year when jobs open up, can we not have these type of conversations about Stoops leaving? Next year we might be holding up the crystal football. I think Stoops retires here...

    Those people get paid an awful lot to be accurate. Adam Scheffer and Pate Forde are all accountable for the money they make. Their boss ESPN can get anybody to replace them. Ask Trev Alberts. Trust me they don't just make things up. Adam Scheffer didn't make anything up. Neither did Pat Forde. Fot the kind ofmoney ND and UF are tossing out there it is shocking.

  • Pat Forde said Bob was kicking tires. Adam Scheffer said Bob was a serious candidate for ND. Where Scheffer screwed up is a few Youngstown ND alums worth 5 billion dollars thought they had him and he believed them.

  • I don't think we are done for this year yet. There will probably be quite a few NFL jobs come open and ESPN will put Bob's name in the hat for every one of them.

  • It's all a matter of perspective. If you talk to someone trying to convince Stoops to take another job, it's "a real possibility" or he's "kicking tires" or he's "close to a contract" or whatever.

    If you talk to someone on Stoops side, you know he's not going anywhere.

  • Sooner Peace, I couldn't agree with you more. It is completely naive for OU fans to think that Bob hasn't shown some interest in some other jobs while he has been here. Lucky for us he hasn't pulled the trigger. However he has parlayed that into being the first or second highest paid coach in college football. If OU was the greatest job in college football, as many OU fans would lead you to believe, we wouldn't have to pay him $5 million next year to coach here. Running down other people's sources while believing our own, is a product of us wanting to believe he has no interest in another job. Does Bob have a great gig here? Sure, but I'm not going to be so arrogant as to think he couldn't replicate it at a half dozen other places. Florida is one of those, so for the record I think there was some fire here with the smoke. Obviously, other people feel differently. Differences of opinion are what keep these boards even relevant.
