I'm concerned about everybody until that W is in the colume.
WVU has a history of giving OU fits, Jeff Hostetler?
Pat White was even a worse butt kicking in the Fiesta Bowl; seemed unstoppable. I was ashamed the way they ran over us, & us being so heavily favored. Absolute shock to everyone, including Vegas.
I'm not sure about how WV will do with the rest of the conf but they will be up for Oklahoma, for sure. Those two victories over us rank as probably two of that program's 5 biggest victories ever. And they were huge underdogs both times.
They will be dangerous and a win at home against us would make their first season in the Big 12 a success to some degree.
All that aside, I think WVU will have difficulties on defense but will be worth the hype anyway. They have a pretty good coach, kinda like Washington State's new head coach, sans the Pirate personna and will put up some points and really the pressure will not be on them the first year.
That's who I am... a Sooner.
Decent chance that WVU's lack of depth will really play to our favor by that late in the season. Just a guess, but I bet our number of running plays and time of possession are higher in that game than any other game of the season.
They have TCU at home, then travel to Okie lite the two weeks right before us.
As someone mentioned above, their victory over us in the Fiesta Bowl is mentioned as one of their top wins in program history.
Don't underestimate WVU on their home field. The Moutaineers and their fans will be sky high for an OU team that will likely be ranked in the top three nationally when the two teams face off in mid-November. Sooner fans made that mistake in '82 when a QB named Hostetler lit us up for 41 points in Norman. We made it again four years ago when a coach who later proved to be in over his head inspired his team to a 48-28 win in the Fiesta Bowl.
I believe OU will win. But it won't be easy, and it could be another disappointing loss against a team we should beat easily. Don't forget that the road has not always been kind in the Stoops era.
