Random Predictions For 2013 Sooners *

  • Before spring ball starts and because i am bored ,thought i would throw out my personal preditions for 2013 .

    1. Frank Shannon will lead the team in tackles and be 1st or 2nd team all big12 .

    2. Bell will start out as starter but by the Texas game Knight or KT will be starting .

    3.Our quarterbacks will have more 100 yard rushing games than 300 yard passing games .

    4.The TE position will have more receptions than the last 2 years combined { te is a young qbs best friend as in easiest target to find and hit}

    5.Gabe Lynn will have at least 2 huge busts per game .

    6.Trey still wont average more than 5 touches per game.

    7.Mack will get fired or step down at years end.

    8.1st or 2nd team all big 12 ...Colvin,Milliard,Ikard, Daryl Williams,Irwin,Saunders,Shannon,Hunnicutt,Shead,Grissom,Damien Williams .

    9.Big 12 order of finish 1.Oklahoma 2. Oklahoma state 3.TCU 4.Texas 5. Baylor 6.Texas Tech 7. Iowa state 8. Kansas state 9.West Virginia 10.Kansas

    10.Teams with most losses compared to last year ....LSU ,Notre Dame , Ohio State , Kansas State ,Florida ,Rutgers ,Oregon State .

    11.Teams most improved from last year....Arkansas ,TCU,Auburn ,UCLA, Mississippi ,Oklahoma State ,Georgia Tech ,BYU ,Virginia Tech .

    12.National Champ game ....A&M over Stanford.

    13.Sooners will have a top 7 recruiting class .

  • Never too soon to start speculating!

    I have no idea what OU's record will even begin to look like. Every signature program has an awful year sometimes when they've had a few "mediocre" 9-10 win seasons and this could happen. Or OU could be better than i think.

    I think the B12 is pretty even over 6-8 teams.
    I think Stoops will play 2 qbs some.

    Dear Heaven , please let us beat Texas some more. and Okie State. I know there's more to the season, i mean i'd give my eyeteeth to return the favor to the Domers, but nervous nancy syndrome sits in and i'm even scared of Tulsa....for now.

    I think TTech's coach will be better for the Raiders than that last guy.
    I' not sure that I dont think that Ohio State doesnt go undefeated to the B10 confernce game...is there a reason they'll be worse this year, i havent been following them too much.
    I will be surprisedif UCLA is improved, but the USC hater in me hopes so.

  • I think i could agree with maybe 3 of those (1, 6, 13). interesting predictions tho and i see where youre coming from on most. thanks for sharing, i always like to hear what other people are predicting. we all think it and its cool to see others thoughts

    sems like youre saying we could win the big XII with either knight or thompson tho and it doesnt matter which, since you predict us to win the conference but dont specify which will replace bell. i think that is pretty far-fetched. also im assuming you believe we will lose a game with bell and thats why he gets replaced? hard to believe he wins all his games yet we switch quarterbacks before a big game like that

  • Always like early predictions. I'll play along.

    1) Very likely.
    2) Possible but doubtful. If anyone plays ahead of Bell-it will be Knight.
    3) Very likely.
    4) Agree
    5) Hmmmmmmmmmm. Will be be playing enough to have 2 busts?
    6) I hope you're wrong on this one. He needs a breakout season.
    7) He won't get fired but if they have another 4 or 5 loss season with a loss to OU-he WILL step down or be forced to.
    8) That's a lot of OU players. If that were to happen-the Sooners would have a great season. Injuries or lack of will be the key.
    9) Sorry. OU won't win the Big 12.
    10) I disagree on Florida and maybe LSU. I agree on Ohio St for obvious reasons.
    11) Auburn can't help but be better.
    12) I know there is a lot of love for A&M but I still see them losing 1 or 2 games next season. Everything fell their way last year.
    13) Also very likely. Depends on the guys they go after and more importantly-who they sign. We've gone after the top recruits the last few years but landed very few. I hope that changes.

  • It's pretty tough for a QB to run for 100 yards. Especially in college where sacks count against rushing yardage.

  • #12... Johnny Football doesn't finish the season. A&M will lose to Bama and at least one more somewhere along the way.

    Tied for second in the SEC West is as good as it gets for A&M. If they don't pull it off this year, with a very favorable schedule, then they are still A&M and won't see the SEC Championship game anytime soon.

    #7.... When Mack goes away, Texas goes hard after Sumlin. A&M has to pony up really big money to keep Sumlin or he becomes the Head Longhorn. Sumlin just got a bump to 3.1 million, A&M will need to match 5 million from the Shorthorns.

    12. Stanford is as good a guess as any for the National Championship Game.

  • A lot of interesting points but I’m just going to touch on one of them, number 12. In all due respect for the great SEC and to ATM in particular I don’t see ATM making it to the SEC championship game much less the National Championship game. Notwithstanding what they did to us in our bowl game ATM and Johnny football aren’t a championship quality football team and I think this year is going to point that out. Last year they were an ESPN manufactured phenomenon and if you cut through all the ESPN BS they were a good but far from great football team.

    Last year ATM lost to both LSU and Florida in the regular season. They beat Ole Miss by 3 and Louisiana Tech by 2. They did beat Alabama by 5 in a game that went all their way including 3 big turn-overs by Alabama. In that game they had a first quarter much like they did in the 3rd quarter of our bowl game with them, everything went their way and they jumped out to a 20-0 lead early. You can bet your bottom dollar that they are more than happy they didn’t have to play Alabama a 2nd time last year because they aren’t a better team than ‘Bama they just got real lucky and played a perfect game on the day they met them last year. Like I said they are a good team that had a perfect storm kind of year last year, I don’t see that amount of luck two years in a row.

    But the real reason I don’t think they have the same success this year is because of Johnny Football, ESPN along with the rest of the media and the NFL. The spotlight isn’t on that team it burns solely for Johnny Football. I don’t think I’ve read more than maybe a couple lines all year about anybody on that team other than him. I am sure though that the rest of that team has had a chance to see him on the town in the Big Apple, in the luxury Box at the Cowboys games and courtside seats at the BB game. Not to mention getting to see him on all the sports shows talking about how good he is and about the fact that he will be eligible to come out for the NFL draft after this year. He is even talking now about the fact that he is giving coming out after this year a lot of thought.

    When the game gets to be about “me” and not about “us” it goes downhill in a hurry. Now I’m not saying that the rest of the players on the team will lay down and not play to their ability. I am saying that you don’t win championships by playing to your ability. You win championships when you put it all on the line every game and play at a level you didn’t even know you could play at. You don’t play at that level for yourself you play at that level for the guys around you as a team. It makes it real hard to get to that place when the leader of that team is telling the press this year is all about him making an even bigger name for himself and going pro next spring.

    Sorry about the rant it’s just that Johnny Football and ATM just chap my hide of late.

  • I agree on all counts except for us winning the Big12 (I give a slight edge here to Okie lite) and I think the NC game will be Bama vs. Ohio State.
