REALITY...setting in

  • I try my best to always stay positive. I never uttered a negative word about K Wilson, I've been on the Labdry wagon from the beginning and I still think Bob is 'Big Game' BUTTTT why are we not getting commits? I'm not getting down on our coaches, or making judgements, I'm just BUMMED. I really wish we had a handful of studs on the way. KF helps, no doubt. The entire sooner nation will likely never know how BIG this recruit is, he's big time. Im just spoiled and I want 5-7 top kids coming in NOW! Ugh, I hate texass.

  • Dude, lets keep things in perspective. The year Trent Smith committed he was our first commit. It was in August. We won our last National Championship with Trent playing Tight End. Now fast forward to 2013 and at the beginning of march we just landed the top RB in Texas and a Rivals 150 player. All is well in Sooner-land!))

Mookster, thanks for not saying January. I was worried you didn't care about OU's Hip Hop Dance Team, their National Championship is in January. They have placed in the Top Ten the last 3 years. Depending on the outfits, they can be fun to watch.

As for football recruiting, RELAX. A&M has an unusually high number of kids, but other than that, things are about normal. We will probably pick up a couple more over the next 2 weeks.

  • Everyone needs to relax about the commitment numbers in March. Remember, it's only been a month since the last official high school signing day was put to bed. As long as OU keeps bringing in the players of the last few years, they'll be o.k. You got to admit, the last three signing classes have been pretty damn good. Remember, In Stoops We Trust, as far as keeping OU in the title hunt.

How will the Sooner Nation likely never know how big a recruit Ford is? That's a puzzling statement.

  • I think too many folks are looking at the Dirty Orange and the number of commits they have at this point. They don't call mack Coach February for nothing. Year in and year out, they'll always do well in their home state, as they should. They will, more often than not, have a higher ranked recruiting class than OU.

It's what you do with what you bring in that counts, and as we've seen demonstrated countless times, the tinhorns fall short there. I don't have the stats, but I'll bet the classes that formed the heart of their team last year were ranked higher than ours.

How have we fared in the Stoops regime against the largest college athletic budget in the known universe? Not too bad all in all.

    Keep the faith!

PERSPECTIVE is the operative word, for sure. Recruiting is not a sprint. There are no prizes for how many recruits you have a month after the last class was signed.

After the great job the staff did with the last class, it's amazing to me that the whiners have emerged already!

  • Recruiting is a marathon, not a sprint.......Bob has long taken a long time to evaluate and for good reason, he is now stepping it up, but still some guys develop late and he doesn't want to over look anyone....btw, they are offering early, kids are in many cases being smart and waiting to see other schools and programs; this is a once in a lifetime happening for them......we will be really good and at about the 22 mile mark we will be sorting our offers.......trust me and if we have a great year on the field, it will really pick up and some will switch over to us from other places ...........

I agree except for keeping OU in the title hunt. We finished fourth in the Big 12 this year. Actually tied for third but we lost the head to head matchup so in my book it is fourth. Not exactly in the title hunt.

I'm sure u meant Feb 23rd. Heard so many good things about Ford including a real good read on another thread. This is a great start for the recruiting season.
