James, is it fair to say that Grissom has moved in as a solid #3 in that group??

I just don't see it working out. I personally think he should have stayed at TE. It took Hanna until his junior season to start to get some meaningful PT and he still struggled. Johnson will be a junior next year and it is hard to believe he was struggling any more than Hanna or Rat. Johnson had built up momentum and because of his athletic skills, he could have really demonstrated them on the offensive side much more than the defensive side IMO. I just don't have a good feeling about this DE move. Sorry to be a debbie downer but I had hopes for Johnson as a TE. As a DE, he doesn't have a chance.

You would be a Debbie Downer only if we considered your expertise to be better than that of our coaches.

He will be another contributor for this upcoming national championship team, IMHO...there are some great athletes in that DE position. Not a lot of experience, but premier athletic skills, that's for sure.

Sharkdiver - true dat...they definitely know better and he must not have progressed enough at TE...just disappointing because I had high hopes.

Well he was pretty much starting at the end of this year, so I would have to disagree with you.

Grissom was very impressive as a freshman, and BJW was very tempted to bring him out of red-shirt. OU is deep at DE, look for big things out of him next year.
I also look for R.J. Washington to finally come into his own and get serious playing time.

If David King can make a successful move to DT I think that's great. I think he was an emergency move to DT this year along with Pryce Macon who performed great. It may be that BV is planning on presenting several defensive looks, 3-4, 4-3, to utilize his personnel more effectively, depending on the opponent. I'm all for it if it works.

Why is it that so many of our players have so much trouble "learning" our system??? Is it they just need more strength and/or weight?? I hear this especially on the defensive side of the ball, but we had some freshmen this year that came in and did the job. Are some just not as smart as others??? Plus, how much do they really need to learn???
