It's not a joke. It's a rumor with legs. But certainly not a done deal. I, too, hope for USF or something else, but it is better than 2 paycheck home games. That won't help us at all. Winnable road games boost confidence!

Perfectly acceptable colloquialism. Find something else to fret about.

I am not too worried about a game in UTEP. Any game that is in our recruiting grounds, although UTEP is on the periphery, is good...especially when we are in a pickle.
Don't worry about it too much gang...it is a better opponent than some of our games we have played!

Why would WE be embarrassed we've played one of the toughest schedules in D-1 for several years now!!! I can think of many teams who SHOULD be embarrassed- both in the Big 12 and the SEC, but we're not one of them.

UTEP is a low tier D1 school who should help boost confidence. As a fan I rather watch OU play UTEP than see them play Kent State like Banana did last year. There is nothing wrong with having advantageous road Games. OUs schedule will be tough enough next year.

That should please the L Jones family.

They actually live in Norman now, but his old Artesia buds would like it. El Paso is barely three hours from Artesia, via Cloudcroft and Alamogordo.

A couple of good things about going to El Paso for game:
(1) the stadium is actually in a nice setting, built into a mountain side.
(2) if you don't want to spend much money in what's technically Texas, New Mexico is just a couple of miles away. And the cooler climate of Ruidoso and Cloudcroft aren't far away.

Downers (and no, I never felt unsafe about Juarez - it's across the river and the drug violence doesn't seem to reach past the river area):
(1) Parking was a bad situation last time. Our group parked east of the main drag that runs through that part of town, and it was a bit of a walk.
(2) There are only a couple of entrances into the stadium, and it was jam-packed outside the north entrance for OU-Stanford.
(3) UTEP has a bunch of Longhorn wannabes in its fan base, so they won't be nice.
(4) Albuquerque would have been better - cooler weather, easier tickets, and Landry would have probably enjoyed carving up the Lobos.
