Oklahoma state is reloading *

osu has beaten OU 17 times since 1492. osu beats us once every 10 years or so and think they dominate us. The aggies suck at math!

True. I also remember the aftermath of the '84 game in Norman - a Poke moral victory that was a mere 24-14 loss, followed by an Aggy minor bowl win, that caused some of their fans to declare OSU "the team of the 80's in Oklahoma..."

They finished the decade 0-10 against us!

  • "reclaim ... dominance"??? Are you kidding?

I live in Colorado and remember the CU slogan a few years back, "Return to Dominance". I have CU friends that said it with a straight face. It always made me laugh. They had a couple of good years. But, their football history was similar to K-State, Iowa State, Missouri, OSU, Texas Tech, etc.

Hah!, Baylor will probably be trying to use the word dominance in a couple of years!

You have to first achieve dominance before you can "return to" dominance. And, you cannot "reclaim" something you never had/owned.

A lottery winner is not suddenly a better business man than Donald Trump.

Is it possible that OSU is laying the ground work to stop being a perpetual doormat? Yes, it is possible. Is it possible that in the year 2112 we will consider OSU to be a dominant football team? Sure, it's possible.

But, I'd be more willing to bet on a statement that OSU would "reclaim ... participance".

I'm amazed that OU and OSU have been playing for so many years.

    Faultline

  • exactly, once again tatertot or whatever, tis is the ouinsider not cowpoke insider, talk about ou or don't talk at all. I don't care to here about the pokes, we hear enough from the newspapers in this state when they finally beat us once every 2,3,4 decades. When oswho has the winning percentage that we have as well as the history then there might be a debate, until then, I sure as hell won't see that happeneing in my life time and I'm fairly young still!

  • are you a sooners fan or a secret osu fan? Either way it doesn't matter because OSU isn't going to be the powerhouse of the big 12 ever! Times change and things happen, but, apparently you must of started snoozing during that game because OU never even left Norman for that game! Pathetic it may seem or it was, but hell even the coaches didn't call the right plays and anyone could have beaten us that game let alone this coming year if Venables was still here! It doesn't take someone who's played in the pros or college or even in high school football to see how much of a joke our defense has gotten over the past 3-4 yrs. Mike Stoops left and all of a sudden we stopped getting the awesome, dominant, and angry defensive players that we had been getting when he was here. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out.

Said the OSU fan posing as on OU fan. Fail.

The pokes look poised to reclaim their big twelve dominance in a couple of years. They will probably dip to an 8-4 season this year but the following year could give the sooners fits again when it's the sooners turn to bring in a new quarterback. Charlie Moore may give the sooner secondary real problems this year too. Ou should win the game in Norman but don't be surprised if your squirming in your seat until the end!

Yeah that is why they went from big 12 champs to being 60 to 1 odds of winning the n/c this year - reloading .........yeah right!!!

Is that unreal , 60 to 1 odds on the defending big 12 champs! That tells you how much Vegas believes that they are reloading.

  • One thing I think OSU does deserve credit for is beating OU more during the stoops ear than everyone in the Big XII except Texas and Tech. Some might not realize that Stoops has not lost 3 times to A&M, Missouri, CU, ISU, KSU, KU, Nebraska or Baylor. I would hardly call OSU dominate but I do think Gundy is doing a good job at OSU.

I think Gundy is doing a good job as well, but he has only 1 of the 3 wins. It might take another 7 years to get the next one.

  • Yeah....yeah....yeah, great year for them last year and gave us a good what for in stoolwater but even a blind squirrel will find a nut from time to time. They may compete off and on for the next 5 or 6 years but will not ever be good enough to win it all. We have lost national championships with better teams than what they put on the field last year so the 60 to 1 sounds about right to me.

  • The only thing that's always worried me about Bedlam, in any sport, is that it's the Aggies' holy war. I haven't forgotten a couple of fluky wins in men's hoops by them in the 80's, not to mention this year's women's basketball game; and of course the back-to-back debacles in football of 2001 and '02.

But, that also represents the longest win streak by Silo Tech in the series (2).

Ah, finally... a worthy topic that merits serious discussion among knowledgable CFB fans who appreciate competitive rivalries.

  • First of all this post belongs on the Cowpokes site on Rivals not here!!Second of all you would have thought that the Cowgirls were going to win the National Championship by reading all the 4-5 page layouts that the Daily Oklahoman printed this saturday & sunday with all the journalists salivating over their spring game!!pukefaceGo Sooners!!!!!!!!!

    sooner8

  • In their spring game, the OSU offens looked very athletic and polished. Like they think they can move the ball on anyone. Monken and Gundy do a good job. When Gundy listened to folks and hired an offensive coordinator - the guy now at WVA - OSU got really good on offense..

The OSU defense reminds me of Texas Tech. They don't put up impressive defensive stats. But they run and hit. They have some good 280# DL's.

Guess what: The series record is lopsided for OU. That means almost nothing

OSU is for real. They are not going to go away. .

My initial thought as well, sheep humpin troll. Again I must ask who is in charge of the background checks on this board?lol Auburn! Now there is a good example of a successful secondary state college football program, OSWho is and will always be a hit and mostly miss product.

Does someone come to a site like this and make a post like this just hoping that Sooner fans will crap their pants in fear . . ."Ooohhh no - not OSU . . . "

OU has faced quality oponents for years and for years has won more than their share. And where will be plenty of quality oponents in the future - TCU and West Virginia are not "Cup Cake U."

That said, I would worry more about the two new additions - and UT - than I would about OSU. A one game winning streak - when they had their best offensive tandem in pretty much forever, got to host the game in their fetid city two years in a row, and when OU's offense and defense had been decimated by one of the worst streaks of injuries in recent years - does not cause me to lie awake at night trembling. Sure, they will win games in the future, as they have in the past. If their coaching staff does a "great" job they will lose coaches to other schools, and sub-$2.00 natural gas will limit their major benefactor's ability to keep them competitive in coaches salaries.

Finally, I hope I never look forward to OU's next season by saying "we'll probably dip to an 8-4 season . . ."
