Big Win!! The Defense gave notice that they are the strength of this team. Landry kept his cool and made the big play when he needed too. The OLine played well, and Whaley is for real. There are many areas for improvement, but I'll take a win vs #5 in their house with a sellout crowd any day. After the win, the biggest positive was NO significant injuries!

Did I just watch the game on the FSU Network? The commentators spent all the game after the first drive strategizing in the heads of Florida State as to how they could win. Once, on 3rd and long, they said,"Look Out!" as if to warn the QB of the pressure coming. At least my TV didn't pick up an echo from where their heads were stuck.

Landry Jones made a couple of bad mistakes on the INTs. Brennan Clay played well, but then later slipped and fell on two plays in a row. Even Stills whiffed on a block in the flat that left Broyles naked. (But I'll forgive that in view of his catches that brought us back from death.) Haywood's kickoff tackle penalty put them in good position, but we took away about 25 yards from them quickly to save that possession. Habern held on the goal line, perhaps costing us four points. Donald Stephenson and Lane Johnson didn't wear their Bjoern glasses tonight, causing them to miss a crushing performance. I don't have a thing bad to say about Whaley. He was making 4 yard runs in the red zone late in the game.

Casey Walker played better than ever tonight, penetrating a couple of times - once for a 6 yard TFL. Jamarcus McFarland tipped that late pass that Harris intercepted. Wort, Jefferson, Colvin and the DTs tackled short a lot on the run. Wort's tip and intercept was a key stop. The way our offense was going much of the game, every stop was a key stop. There were times I felt safer when we were on defense - like when the Selmons were here. Aside from Travis Lewis' moral leadership (and his disabling tackle on E J Manuel) I didn't see him do a lot. But maybe his leadership provided the necessary ingredient for our success. There was a period early when we were tackling without arms against Manuel and the receivers, but we got over it. I confess I give Harris and Wort plusses for their hit on Shaw that prevented the FSU TD. Our D just swarmed and flailed and hit and made things hard for FSU. Even if FSU proves not to have much of a running attack this year aside from Manuel - who may be more reluctant hereafter - I think we met a team of at least equal (if younger) athletes tonight at their house and prevailed fair and square.

But they've never beat us without Biletnikoff.

The way ABC was talking, FSU may jump us in the rankings.
