Oklahoma's Aaryn Ellenberg was named the Phillips 66 Big 12 Women's Basketball Freshman of the Week, the conference announced Monday.
Ellenberg averaged 23 points in two games last week and took over as the Big 12's freshman scoring leader.
The 5-7 guard scored a career-high and game-leading 34 points in OU's loss to Ohio State Sunday, Dec. 5, setting a Schottenstein Center facility record. Her total was two points shy of Courtney Paris' freshman scoring record. Ellenberg's 22 first-half points were an OU freshman record for an opening period.
Ellenberg scored 12 points and had three steals in a 94-45 rout of Sam Houston State Wednesday, Dec. 1.
The Las Vegas, Nev., has scored in double-figures in all eight contests this season and has also made at least two 3-pointers each game, matching the longest streak of its kind by a Sooner.
Baylor's Brittney Griner was the Big 12 Player of the Week.
Oklahoma returns to the hardwood Wednesday, Dec. 8, hosting Stephen F. Austin at the Lloyd Noble Center in Norman, Okla., at 7 p.m.
