OU to be same as last year per Pat Jones

  • Today on the radio Pat Jones said he had a reliable source at OU that said this years team will be pretty much the same as last years team.....thoughts? For football of course.

    Right. Last year's team would obviosly have been much tougher down the stretch without the injury plague.

  • By the tone in his voice, I think he was referring to the team we saw at the end of the year - but who knows.

    I think this years team will be better than than the team we saw at the beginning of last year... and they will get better as the season goes along.

That reliable source must also have a crystal ball that looks in the past instead of the future...How in the &%# can a "reliable" source be relied upon to state the conditions of team nobody has seen yet? Wish they would at least wait till after the first week of fall practice. There is a ton of unknown talent coming that could all be game changers.....Pat Freaking Jones?!?!?! hammer

  • Pat is a on and off kinda guy. One minute he is quite gracious towards OU and the next not so much, he is a sheep shagger at heart so I would not put too much stock into his bipolar meanderings. You all can believe what I know and that is that this team will finish better than last years team...lol

  • There arent many people out there I care less about their opinion than Pat's. Cause its obvious we suck considering we havent even had practiced yet

    We have some reliable sources, (the guys that really coach 12 - 14 hours a day, year round), and they say they are going to be just fine. I think I'll take their word for it over some guy who sells hot dogs & ice cream at the stadium.

    Obviously, if Landry goes down and they have several key injuries, they won't do well as they hope, but you could say that about any team.

    Pat Jones is not a reliable source when it comes to OU. I have no idea what, (who) his sources at OSU and Arkie are, they may be pretty good for all I know, but he's NOT in the loop at OU.

  • Half of the time he doesn't even know our players names, or even our two deep. There's a reason he's as confused as he sounds half the time; he really IS clueless! Aggie lovin is his game. he thinks OSU will have virtually no drop off in QB play and so does Trabor. They LOVE them some Wes Lunt. We'll see...

  • I'm not to sure what past is thinking but here are the guarantees Landry is one of the top 3 QBs in the country and he has a full compliment of seasoned O linemen. If stills shows up and Metyor plays as well as he did in spring with phenom freshman Shepard at the slot and at least one of the three incoming jcs or transfers along with wahleys return and thr three new rbs Look Out!!!!!!!! Defense MIKE STOOPS enough said!!!!!

  • Agree with all that's being said, just thought it was funny that his so called sources at OU said this team would be about the same as last year. Thought everyone would get a kick out of that comment. I think he's just hoping OU is not better than last year..... he is definitely clueless when it comes to OU and most other things when you think about it.

  • Does anyone out there want to stake a stab at how this team will be better? Just because a guy goes from being a Junior to a Senior doesn't necessarily mean the player will be improved. Is Trey Meteyoer really going to be as good as Broyles this year? Is Whaley going to really be as good as last year with his ankle? Is McGee, Washington, and McFarland all the sudden going to be dominant? The only hope this team is going to be better than last year is if guys in the skill positions we recruited are special players. Otherwise, it's going to be alot like next year. Thus, Pat's source may have a point.....

  • I heard him on the radio. He thinks we are one of the top teams in the conference but thinks we have too many questions on defense to start the year in the top 10 nationally. Thought we should be around 11 or 12.

    His point was our defense was horrible at the end of the year and we graduated the best defensive ends, our top corner and best linebacker. Also thought the offense could be good but we were playing with one wide receiver and no tight ends with a single game of college experience. This really doesn't sound like a preseason contender for the championship. He did say the young guys are talented but you never know till they play.

    He likes Landry but he is the quarterback who throws the ball backwards when he has pressure. Just ask the OSU coaches and of course he did it in the Cotton Bowl the year before but it bounced out of bounds.

    Since you want to go back to the year before how about the OSU game that year.
    Didn't Landry throw 2 long TD passes over the defense to win the game while
    under pressure.
