How do you know Ronnell made the right choice? He will likely be a rd. 2 guy this year. Maybe he'd have a great year next year and be a top-20 guy as a senior. It's all guesswork... for some, staying works out fine... for some it turns out poorly.
And if he got hurt next year like Lewis and Broyles and missed games? Look, as I said, some need to make better buisness decisions. Ronnell was having more and more trouble staying eligible. Safe to say that he had next level aspirations. Exactly what would comming back do for him. If you read his analysis there wasn't much he was going to improve on that would up his grade. Now maybe next year the offerings at his position would be less and that might give him a better shot.
But if you have those aspirations then why would you want to risk it just for one more year in college? Sam and Gresham were blessed in their situation but never you think for a moment for one blessed there is many that can't. The number be you gather them at the combine or at a pro day is simply an audition followed by an interview. You audition and interview well along with good film and your chances greatly increase. Vice versa, well, I'm soure you get the picture. Alot of guys have to depend on their film. Thats fine as well. But I don't think any of us would say that Travis' film this year has him jumping off the screen. Broyles I think has a much better chance of sticking where they felt he would be going but Travis...Free Agent.
There is risk in anything you do and players like Ryan and Travis knew that coming back. They were a couple of the unfortunate ones that did get hurt. The reason they came back was because they felt they could improve on what they were given and you cannot fault them for that. Travis was about a third rounder if he went last year and if he was healthy and turned in a year like his freshman year and jumped up to early second, there is no questioning the decision. They came back, got hurt unfortunately and are now trying to prove their worth to the scouts. What's done is done and there is no point in questioning their decisions.
