"It's a stompin' in Norman folks, an old fashioned stompin'!" - Brent Musberger(TTU - 2008)
TLewis said it best:
"it’s like being punched in the gut so it’s something that we are not accustomed to. It’s a first for us so when that happens the result is a lost game.”
This OU team has a serious lack of leadership, and it starts at the top.
7 - Time National Champions!
7 - Time Big XII Champions!
I want to take issue with something Coach Stoops said: “No, a couple of those long ones the linebacker was just out of position,” said Coach Stoops. “Had nothing to do with the guys there (DL). For the most part we have played pretty good defense against those kinds of teams.” With all due respect that's crap! YES the LBs were out of position, however the DL DOES have a roll to play- TT penetrated our O Line all night, you don't think THAT helped stop our running game? We needed the D Line to penetrate. On runs from Pass Sets? DL has CONTAIN positions that they didn't maintain. Sorry ....I think our D Line did contribute to the debacle.
Secondly, Heuple, nor Stoops put enough emphasis on the O Line missing blocks and not moving the D Line off the ball. Can't run if there's three guys in your backfield BEFORE the RB gets the hand-off (well Barry Sanders could sometimes, but even he lost a lot of yards with Detroit).
Lastly, Landry did miss some big throws, but some of his passes were absolute lasers and so perfect as to defy imagination. All in all...."You can do it!" (Waterboy)
