OT: Josh Holliday hired at Silo Tech as baseball coach *

Is he any good, or is this just more Agro-logic that dictates they have to hire a coach with an "orange" background? Keep in mind that Anderson was a UT assistant, and we all know that the Pukes think of UT in a favorable light due to the "enemy of my enemy is my friend" line of thinking.
Here's hoping this hire goes as well as it did when Tom "Schnelleday" lost to OU in '97 to end their 16-year run as league tourney champs; or as well as it did when Poke fans on the 'net were sure that Matt Holliday was going to quit the Rockies and come back to play QB at OSU.

Josh is probably a good hire. His dad was a pretty good coach. He was blunt. But his teams were hard to beat. He succeeded the OSU idol - Gary Ward.
Josh was a really good player - as his membership the OSU Hall of Fame shows.
Just a guess, but he might have ended up somewhere like Texas or LSU.....

It makes sense for them to hire alums, the only ones who really want to be there. OSU is a steppingstone for everyone else. JJ, Lester, and Leonard Hamilton immediately come to mind. I'm sure there are others.

It's a pretty good hire but not getting Walton from ORU makes this a failed hire IMO.

If it's a "pretty good hire" it is probably not a failed hire in my opinion. Interesting hire.
I think they could have hired Walton. I think he would have taken the job without hesitation. Walton is a proven successful head coach.
Anderson worked under a scholarship penalty for 2 or 3 years. He still managed to field competitive teams - even while working with a short roster. Texas fired Harmon. Maybe Anderson will return to Austin.

I know it didn't make much sense but I meant it would be a good hire, had Walton not been available. Walton is a GREAT coach.

I agree with that. I wonder why they did not offer Walton. My guess: Josh Holliday was a legendary player - much more recently than Walton.
Lets facie it, OSU does produce some good home grown coaches. Walton, Gundy and Self are 3 examples.
