OSU Names Starting QB: True Frosh Wes Lunt

  • Interesting to see if this move will work out or bite them in the butt. Word all spring was it was a 3 way dead-heat. And now before the summer they've named their starter. Wonder if this does anything to the motivation of the 2 older guys (including a junior) that he beat out...

(I know this is an OU board, not OSU, but I think its worth a discussion, especially for those of you who live in OK and maybe hear more about it on a regular basis)

  • I guess we will find out in the first week of December how good he is! haha

    soonerborn26

  • What a risky move by Gundy. He must be by far the most talented of the gruop. You would think that Walsh will leave and they will have no depth.
They are going to have a huge dropoff this season on offense despite what the Daily Oklahoman says.

  • Sounds like one of Mack's recruiting tactics-just promise them the starting job. I find it hard to believe that a true freshman QB can come in and be named starter in 4 months and to think there will not be much drop-off from last year. Ahhhh! A Team on the Rise!

    Irish Sooner

  • I just read that he is 6-4, 211. If true...wow. Good size for a freshman despite the baby-face.

    kwest2

  • Don't doubt mike gundy. Two or three years from now this guy will be terrorizing the opposing teams secondary. The pokes arent going away. Ou fans need to worry about their own derby at quarterback. With laundry staying another year the sooners will be log jammed at quarterback. Brayden Scott and other recruits at that position will be riding the pine for four years before they even sniff the field. Hard to keep moral up when you can't play.

Such a logical point-of-view because OSU can keep their QB's happy but OU cannot.

BTW, OSU has had more attrition at QB than OU. OU has a senior, junior, sophomore, RS freshman and TF on the roster. That is what is called a succession plan.

AT OSU, your team has done such a poor job of developing talent at QB that they are choosing a HS QB over everybody else on their roster. That is called reactionary leadership. The only upperclassmen you have on your roster cannot outplay a HS QB.

Why don't you you entertain us with your long list of TF QB's that have been successful in the BIg XII. I cannot wait for you and your arrogant OC to get handled by teams that work your TF QB.

There is no way that if LJ went pro this year that OU would have to resort to playing a HS QB.

    NorthCalSooner

  • I could careless who their qb is, I just want to beat them

    vgsooner

  • tatertot, ur a guest on our board. His name is Landry... if you choose to disrespect our qb in our faces, then leave.. admin u need to warn this dude

  • Interesting. He was in HS a few months ago

People on the SA said they figure Walsh will transfer now.

    Pressbox

  • The frosh must be the fastest one of the three. When you lose four of your five starters on your line you know the QB will be running for his life most plays.

  • They will be lucky to win 7 games. Freshman struggle that's just how it is Bradford was amazing, but had he started as a true freshman I have no doubt he would of struggled as well as he wasn't physically ready coming out of high school.

James, Alan, please ban this fella before he creates unrest on our site. He is confused and does not know where he belongs just like the rest of the sheep shaggers.

  • Ou fisherman...I didn't realize this board was for ou fans to sit around the campfire and sing cum by ya. I thought it was to discuss serious and interesting sports concerning the sooners. As a sooner fan I would have thought other sooner fans would be on high alert status when dealing with Osu. Theses guys are a serious threat. Look at the first round in the draft. 41-10 should be the wakeup call about these guys. Instead ou fisherman wants to bury his head in the sand and live in a little bubble world. Objectivity is the first causality of truth. Censorship is for losers who want to live in a soviet union type world and a totalitarian state. As an American I'd hope ones liberty and freedom of speech would rise about sensitive fans ears. Political correctness is a cancer I'd hope ou fans would rise up against.

If my Sooners had been at full strength going into Stillwater and been beaten as bad as they were I'd be worried. We weren't any where near full strength as we were missing several starters. So why would I consider your school a serious threat?

If Weeden,Blackman,Cooper,Anyiam,Garner,Rush,Adcock & Bowie were sophmores who had another two years to play against us I might be on "high alert status" but since they are not and will not be back next year I'm not worried.

If your school had any kind of history of winning titles or beating the Sooners on a regular basis I might be on high alert but since this was the first title that the payne county tractor driving school has won in 35 years & the first time in ten years you've beaten the Sooners I'm not worried.

See tater head you are not a power house school when it takes you three years to rebuild to make another title run. See schools like OU,Bama & a few others normally can reload in a year now they may have a down year every three or so but it doesn't take them three or four to reload. So good luck to you halloween colored team the next couple of years and enjoy going to your minor bowls.

  • He did really really good in the spring. They believe that by naming him the starter that with the added reps he'll be getting that he will be ahead of the others.

They also are not afraid to pull him at a moments notice if needed. The OSU coaches are very excited about qb and think it will be a strength this year.

Your gang comes to Norman this year and the stars will be realigned! I really do not care wether you come over here or not, my post was in jest but I will remember you and will expect to hear from you after this years game but do not really think we will. All this crap you are spewing does not apply to sports fanatics, no such thing as reason or objectivity unless you are trying out for the local news station sports anchor job so if you would like to switch sides and become a SOONER fan there are a few here including myself that will help you with your transformation but you must first buy and watch History Of Oklahoma Football (all volumes) there will be a test afterwards. FYI, most of us do not sit around and lament, agonize over past defeats to OSWho or anybody else because the plain and simple fact of the matter is THERE HAS NOT BEEN ENOUGH OF THEM TO WORRY ABOUT!!!

  • Hey sooner man child.....your a little girl! You and ou fisherman are both a couple of pinheads.

    tatertot

  • I'll keep it focused on sports. If you HONESTLY think that a freshman QB with a re-vamped line and WR corp is going to whip up on OU this year then you do have some issues. Last year was a once in a lifetime high for OSU- enjoy it.

With what Monken said about Landry I'd be surprised if all three of your QBs aren't carried out of Norman by Medivac.
