Max Browne to Decide Wednesday Night

  • Announced that he would let everyone know his decision Wed. evening what school he has chosen.

    JRAM

  • Has he been to Bama yet?

    frizz

  • How tight is he with Washington? I would think it looks good for us because there isn't a high profile QB on the roster. We have a start with two top RBs and the WR haul from last year should be enticing.

I like him as ours as long as he doesn't choose hometown Washington.

  • Max Browne to OU; I am 85% confident in this!

  • All the noise out of the USC camp are saying he's a lock to be a Trojan...

Hope Browne pulls a fast one on the ol' condoms and choose to play for a honest winner.

  • Two thoughts if his choice is USC:

    1. Heupel has done great without THE top national QB
    2. Getting any QB other than Browne helps OU in securing potential 5-star Justice Hansen next year.

The big question - does OU offer Cody Thomas, who could choose baseball (first round talent), or the safe pick with Brayden Scott, who also fits OUs system well.

  • Justice Hansen, Max Browne...both exceptional quarterback names.

Given the timing of Browne's announcement, I have to assume that he's going to be a Trojan. That said, it seemed like we did an excellent job recruiting him and had a good chance.

  • Hopefully the set decision is due to the fact he knew he would choose between OU and suc.. Here is to wishing!

Disagree. Timing of his announcement plays in favor of OU. Hype told him OU would start moving on after 1 April. If he was not going to OU he would maybe take other visits.

  • I think there are far too many factors to speculate about the timing and whether it favors one team or the other. It is helpful, interesting, and exciting that he is announcing early. It helps us if we get him because he is so talented and it helps us if we don't because we will have plenty of time to go after other top choices.

He would be a heck of a pick up. The fact that he is from Wash West Coast Kid) leads me to believe it is MUCH more likely that he will be a Trojan. For those that have been to USC (L.A.), it is tough to pass us up..especially during the spring.

  • Two ways to look at it.

He just came back from USC a few days ago. Some kids like it out there -- some don't. (Landry Jones visited USC and knew it wasn't for him. It just was not a good fit, (the 'people' primarily), and he realized it when he was on campus there).

So we could say the USC visit 'sold' Browne, or 'turned him off.' Either is possible.

OK, let's get wishful here and (hope) it's the latter. Now it's most likley down to Alabama and OU, and I think that so far, he's probably had the better 'connection' at OU, but that's speculation on my part.

I know Josh wants this kid bad. But if he doesn't get him, OK, we'll go on to the next one and Josh will find someone he can develop.

  • Whereever he goes, it will be helpful that he decides so early, so we will know whether we need to recruit another quaterback.

    Incsooner

  • I think he knew before the SC visit that it would come down to UW, SC,
AND OU. The timing of the announcement just means he has all the info he needs. No indication of his choice...or he's going to SC. :(

  • how often do we really beat out usc for a kid. I can think of D Murray but Usc wanted him to play DB they didn't offer stills to my recollection.

  • i like the oklahoma qb kid, but i hate like heck that the little weasel Kiffin keeps breaking rules and reaping great potential players in.
USC may regret this, and i hope they do, or gad! the nightmare of a successful Lame Kiffin makes me sick. The talking heads are all agog over how USC is goign to blow back to the top this year.

almost makes a guy root for Oregon Ducks....anybody but USC.

so hope Browne made a great connection to Josh and sees the Weasel sleaze for what it is and announces OU....what a great early recruiting coup it would be, but as posters have said Josh and the KIND of player we get at QB at OU , barring injuries, makes me feel warm almost all over!

I like the way you think! The crow that I will eat will taste wonderful if you're right. Here's why I disagree:

I hear rumblings of a brother who lives in southern California and three unofficial visits to USC. Now, I readily admit that the USC campus and atmosphere will not appeal to every player out there. Clearly Landry Jones was in that camp. But a player who visits on three separate occasions would appear to be one who enjoys the vibe. And days after his final visit to USC, he's announcing a decision.

USC fans exude a certain confidence on Max Browne that I find hard to ignore. I've bought into it, right or wrong.

    And I hope I'm wrong.
