Well, they gotta have something to cheer about. Their season and spring game didnt give them crap to look forward to, so why not look back....

If ever an article cried out for a rebuttal it's this piece of Dirty Orange propaganda. So here's one of 10 reasons why Mack Brown isn't the best Big 12 coach ever. Feel free to add others and I'll be happy to submit it the BR.

Mack Brown: 13 seasons, 133 wins = 10.23 wins per season
Bob Stoops: 12 seasons, 129 wins = 10.75 wins per year.

There's also a story from bleacher report you can access from Saturday's Sooner headlines that's well worth the read.

I haven't read the report on Mack, and see no reason too after these comments.

Dannshidmart1 I read the bleacher report on Oklahoma this morning. It was very flattering to OU. Seems like Bleacher Report is trying to write a real pleasing article about all the B12 schools...possibly to get readership from all of them.

The best coach ever probably would not lose most of his coaching staff. Now will MB win 4 or 6 games this year?

How can a coach with a quarter century of experience and two conference titles total in his career be on anyone's list of best anything?

Mack is a good coach. Might even be a very good coach. He's not in the conversaion of great coaches and there are at least two XII coaches who are. Did Mack even have a winning record against Gary Barnett?

Mackovic had a better record against Tom Osborne than Mack Brown.

I don't even have to read it to know how silly the writer was being.

I think there may be quite a few Ut fans that would objectively believe that article was over the top.

It should be titled

Mack Brown" "Best Big 12 Coach Ever" *

This was my take:

Producing NFL talent does have something to do with being a good coach, which frankly is not in question, but it is not the top indicator of the title: Best big 12 coach ever....But if you want to stick with that, I'd say it damns Brown as well. Year after year he gets his pick of the talent in Texas, year after year their class is rated tops, year after year Stoops and Co get the leavins or have to work hard to get the guys they want AND as you point out the Texas talent is proven at the next level... as this article suggests, but Brown underperformed with it and the question begs to be asked, how, with all of that pro talent has Stoops gotten the best of him, and not by just a little.

And keep in mind that Mack's one NC came thanks to one of the greatest, ad lib individual performances of all time. And one of the most self-damning comments ever made was when Mack was asked about the improvement of Vince Young late in that season, and he answered, "....it happened when we decided to leave him alone." Wow.
