Linebacker Recruiting - Mike Mitchell *

WIth all of the national linebackers that we have been striking out with recently, why haven't we offered Mike Mitchell from Plano? Big kid, and looks like a heck of a player! Has a huge offer list. Why haven't our coaches showed much interest?

Maybe they have evaluated him as a player and not felt he fits what they want. It certainly helps to be very athletic, but that doesn't mean he is a physical, instinctive linebacker.

Maybe they spoke with him and he idicated he wanted to go elsewhere. Coaching staffs only have so many bodies and hours to spend recruiting and they must recruit players that they feel they have a chance at signing. If he indicated he would not sign then they must move on to quality players that have OU on their top 10 or top 5.

It appears by his offer list, that other very good teams who also have a talent for evaluation, disagree.

It's a process. Not everyone that is worthy gets offered 'Day One.'
We may or may not like it, but all staffs have a plan, and it's impossible to scout every prospect within the first three or four months.

the kid lives in texas..... One would think the top 10 lb's would be evaluated first.., then offer the top 20 around the country.... this kid should have been offered... but wait, we 'll offer him, and all of a sudden if he were to commit, he will turn out to be exactly what kish wanted all along, lol

He already has a top 3. It will be hard to get him now, even if we do offer. Looks like Ohio State is the front runner, with Florida State a close second.
