  • I was a supporter of Capel for one more year til I read this. Now not so sure. Good read on Billy Gillispie. Read before you make comments on Kentucky and his DUIs'.

  • Guys if you are running a business and things start to fall apart as the man in charge you make changes to keep your business going even if that means letting staff go. Well running the University of Oklahoma is a business and its time to plug the holes and stop the links. Joe C. and President Boren need to make the changes to keep their business upright. After all the profit and loss sheet is still the same no matter what the business is but in this case its not only loss revenue but wins and losses.

    That is very true, but you also don't cut your losses after 2 very good years either. What people do not understand Blake or not, it will set a very bad example for the University to let go a coach that is 2 years removed from the Elite 8.

    Not when his current failures are monumental. Were tying 50 year old records for consecutive losses; no one is going to the games; three of his years we have not made the post season (I think we had done that 20+ years straight prior to his arrival). The program could not be in worse shape. Plus, if Joe C knows he can get the right guy (whoever that is), it doesn't matter. Get a good new coach and firing Capel two years removed from an elite 8 appearance doesn't matter.

  • Looks like this is gonna get interesting really soon. I've been hard on Capel, i've pointed out all of the things i feel he has done wrong , but i honestly feel for the guy. If he gets fired there will be mulitple reasons, but you could make a pretty good argument that TMG and Tiny Gallon cost him his job. From signing them, to their attitudes when they got here, to leaving after only 1 season. He put alot of stock in those guys and it may well cost him his job. To me thats sad.

    Every program exeperiences downs like these. Look at UNC last year and Michigan State this year...and they recruit All-americans every year!!. We were not selling out when Blake was here, we will never matter in attendance now that the Thunder is up the road. New Coach? you mean young coach, because any veteran coach knows to stay away from a program that would fire their coach after 2 down seasons. We had problems filling the job after Sampson left.

    There is some speculation that Josh Pastner is Joe C's. number one candidate to replace Capel.

    Memphis head coach. Young guy like Capel but has some deep ties in Texas and is a really good recruiter.

    This is true, losing them hurts his chances but having said that, you have to field a team.

  • I wouldn't be so wild about Gillespie! Not only has he had DUIs and is a hard partying single guy, but he's also bad with boosters and the media. He likes to coach only and be left alone.
