James, an associate with close connections to Euless Trinity HS keeps me up to speed on some of the Tongan players from there. He was telling me about a senior DE that could easily be moved to DT with a little work in the weight room. The kid reportedly said OU was recruiting him along with some 40 other D-1 schools. That was just one guy he mentioned but there are a number of others being recruited by D-1 schools such as TA&M, Baylor, TCU, UCLA, ASU, etc. Keller, Halton City, North Richland Hills, and L.D. Bell also have a contingent of Tongans on their teams most of the large variety of offensive and defensive line types. Was wondering which coach has the responsibility for this area? Are the coaches using Nila kind of like the Cali-Trio to try and get into the Tongan community more aggressively. That would seem to be a good pipe-line to get more O & D line guys into OU. I have been told the Tongan mother is the key to getting the son. Just curious why we are not seeing players from this area listed in weekend updates? Thanks in advance!

Good question. And it does seem like Nila would be a good recruiting tool.
Yes, we could certainly use Samoa like Nila!
