Do we really even care at this point? It is a story ...with snap shots of minutes into a long recruiting process that turned in Missours' favor. They have taken small excerpts from at least a 30 minute interview to take the reader down the path of their choosing, which appears to be more news worthy. If he would have chosen OU or Arkansas, i'm sure the story would have been much different. Did anyone happen to find any stories on Duron Neal's recruitment and how well that went for us from any Missouri regional reports? Now that would be interesting reading...

"It was earlier that day that the Arkansas booster had left the voicemail on John Beckham’s cell phone. Beckham played the message in which the booster said Hillcrest High's football team was at “the top of the list” for high schools to which he was considering making a financial donation."
“It’s what everybody will tell you, that he left his team in midseason,” she said in reference to Petrino’s resignation in 2007 as coach of the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons after 13 games to take his current job. “There are other teams that bring that up a lot.”
Oklahoma did so the most, Tracy Beckham said. The Sooners thought Arkansas was their main competition for her son, and vice versa.
Arkansas constantly brought up that there is “a lot of stuff going on” at Oklahoma, she said.
“There’s players leaving like crazy,” Tracy Beckham recalled being told by Arkansas coaches.
An Arkansas fan also tried to make a pitch to the Beckhams. Although Tracy Beckham insisted her family was never offered anything against NCAA rules, she said it received a call from a Razorbacks booster.
“If there’s anything I can do for you, you let us know,” Tracy Beckham recalled the booster saying.
But this article does show a lot of the inside recruiting tactics that boarder on "Bad Car salesman". I know we have to compete for kids...but let's not try to ge too dirty in the process. We have a lot to sell. Besides I will take our WR class this year over anyone's in the country...and if they pan out...there will be a lot of Sooner recievers running open and catching passes in the NFL in the future... Boomer!

About DGB, right now I'm thinking instead: 1) We got a man-among-boys two years ago (McCay) and failed to develop him at all. 2) This year we're bringing in Metoyer, Gardner and Neal who are highly acclaimed. Gardner has even shown his prowess at the JC level. 3) Can we get Gardner into the right shoes (recall Cameron Kenney) in time to get him on the field at all? 4) Can we really develop Metoyer and Neal any better than we did McCay, Jameel Owens and Josh Jarboe? Jaz Reynolds spent a whole year in doghouse redshirt, remember. DeJuan Miller got worse and worse the longer he was here, so bad he couldn't even take over for our chronically injured receivers last year. 5) To claim we developed Ryan Broyles is like John the Baptist claiming it was all in the baptism.
So I'm both thrilled and worried.

I inoculated myself with pessimism throughout the recruiting season, paying attention only to the guys we wanted that we got. I did get up hopes late when Mike ditched the three 4-star CBs to go after the two 3-stars he wanted. I found plenty to keep me happy all season, and some real pleasant surprises like Derrick Woods, Darlington, Gardner, Latu, McNamara and the two fantastic athletic freaks who could become really dominant DEs.

About DGB, if we couldn't get him, I'm glad he went to his home state U. Sometimes states deserve to benefit from the guys they produced.

Bagging on Norvell for Kenney? The kid had limited football experience and it took him longer but Norvell had him ready at the end. Jaz never developed because of himself and everybody knows that. Jarboe? How could Norvell be blamed for him? Good grief. Owens? Good grief what did he do at Tulsa? Broyles? Have a deep conversation with him about what Norvell did for him the next time you see him. You will want to delete your comments about Norvell. Blame Norvell for Miller? Miller never bought in long before Norvell was here.

We have an EXCELLENT class! Our coaches did an EXCELLENT job and yet the negative people will always find SOMETHING to complain about. It s either that or they've got to slap James in the face and call him a liar. ALWAYS something....
Dorial Who?
My only hope is Wort and TJeff knock the crap out of him.

James thought and others on Beckham's FOX DGB article?
