  • osu should have lost to stanford if the kid could make a field goal. Bama would have killed them!

Sshhhh! Don't bring tangible facts into the discussion.

People also want to forget that Oregon had LSU beat until the ducks started coughing up turnovers.

I know that many of you are enamored with the SEC defense at the moment, but a quick review of final scores in the BCS Championship game reveals that there is more than one way to get it done.

If your preference is conservative offense and focus on defense that's great. Everyone has a preference and an opinion.

But when you start acting like its the ONLY way to win it all is when you depart from reality.

Huh? Oregon had LSU beat? The biggest lead they ever had was 13-9 and then LSU ran off 24 straight points. Maybe the turnovers turned it into a route but Oregon was never even close to having "LSU beat".

OK, poor choice of words on my part, but I stand by opinion that both Oregon and West Virginia showed that the LSU defense could be attacked with some success.

Furthermore, the actual results from past NC games are beyond anyone's opinion, they are on the record. And the record proves that it's not ALWAYS done with a dominating defense and conservative offense.

  • I don't listen to the talking heads at ESPin. I use my own eyes and experience to judge teams.

Bama's defensive performance last night was one of the most dominating displays of defense in a championship game that I've ever seen in my over forty years in football. Granted LSU's offense isn't the most potent, but I don't think anyone in the country could have done much against that defense last night. I have to agree that OSewe would have been dismantled on offense and Bama would have run the ball right down their throat last night. Add to that the way their QB played last night and it wouldn't have even been close.

I hate the BCS, and would love to see a playoff, but IMO, the best two teams played for it all last night and the one with the best defense won.

How is that fact even relevant? The only reason I brought Georgia into the discussion was to say that they have a pretty good defense and that LSU's offense lit them up in the 2nd half. That was to prove my point that LSU's offense isn't that bad - they averaged over 40 points a game against everyone else sans Bama.

You're right Fish, I think Matteon (with whom I often agree) and the boys went over the top. There was no need for them to become so hostile. These things are called opinions and like the almighty bum orifice, everyone has one.

Well it was almost inflammatory to say such nonsense. When people say things so diametrically incorrect about something we all love it tends to amp people up.
