How about those Horns...They decided to stay out of the draft?

  • It varies from year to year as to the number of top tier players taken. BAMA, tOSU, LSU and USC always seem have a player or two in the first round. In the 2000's I believe OU had at least one first rounder for five consecutive years. Another factor to consider is whether the school plays a 'pro-like system'. Lets not forget the head coaches at BAMA, LSU and USC and now Stanford have been coaches in the NFL and they bring NFL practice and coaching techniques into their program. USC recruits on the basis of its NFL players, just as the 'U' used to do. While it is a factor for OU, our emphasis in recruiting is on our historic and current position as a top 'collegiate program' which has had many players that have been drafted. Its a subtle but important difference in the kind of players we attract. Also for skill positions the NFL has the H-W-S standards positionally which they take into account, all of these weigh in on how high players get drafter.

However we have more than a few players on the OU roster who, assuming they continue to develop and avoid serious injury, have potential to be first round, and perhaps even top 10-15 first round players. Landry Jones, Trey Metoyer, Courtney Gardner, Jordan Phillips, Tony Jefferson are five that roll off the top of my head. Latu, Nila and possibly Gabe Ikard have that kind of potential too.

  • Didn't a couple years ago the longhorns beat ou three or four years in a row? Texas will be fine. If memory serves me right don't the horns lead the red river rivalry overall? Weren't they the last team from the big twelve to win a national title?

Stoops era 8-5 edge OU/Stoops, played in 4 national championship games, won one. Big 12 has existed 16 years and OU has won it 7 times nobody else is close. They do hold the overall series edge but we are gaining, the real number to pay attention to is OU 7 national championships TEXASS 4 OSWho 0.

Deep Red that post is just a fact. I know facts are hard for you. Or you taking me on just because you want to?

I figured you were just blowing out your azz and couldn't back it up.

Now everyone on here knows you can't back up your posts. Plain weak.

I can give you facts all day long. We put up 60 poInts twice in the 2000s on you. Last year it was 55 when we pulled off or there would have been another 60 poInt drilling of your league best defense.

As far as NFL players, yours are known as jokes. Take VY, Benson, Williams, and even Sergio Kindle for example. All perfect examples of UT coddling that doesn't prepare them for real toughness in the NFL.

OU players at least are respected by NFL teams in that they bring toughness and a work ethic. Next year, look for more of the same.

You don't even know your own team. No you haven't beat OU 3 years in a row. Maybe you are confused with the 5 game losing streak Mr February had against the Sooners. Keep in mind that we beat you by 50 twice during that span.

OU owns the B12 in the only sport that counts. Texas lies somewhere in the back of the pack. This upcoming season, you get more of the same while watching OU win yet another title.

Who was the last team to lose a NC title game?

It's freaking funny that a stupid ass like Deep Red gets to decide who is a Sooner Fan or not.

Guess I should send him my sooner Club bill and the ticket invoices. Maybe he will approve them.

    Probably can't read!

Probably can't read? Did I not read you reminding us who had more sissies in the NFL?

Everybody knows that the Horns have the most head cases in the league.

I've seen a lot of Horns get upset with the facts, but I have to say, the facts really get under your skin. Now, tell me how much you dominated the Spanish American War era.

It's more than just Okie Lite. Boise St had one or two drafted in the first, like I said Illinois has FOUR players drafted before a Sooner was drafted.

Like I said, it was funny that Texas had none drafted early. OU is 5-15 in recruiting every year, I'm just stating for OU this wasn't a great year in the draft.

The NFL has yet gone to the open, pass happy college game. This necessitates a different type of player that is usually found in the Big 10. Illinois is incredibly lucky to have the number of high draft choices this year, they have not had this many in to mant drafts. OU has been a heck of a lot more consistant than Illinois!!!

Red the only thing that gets under my skin is someone calling me freaking horn. Don't do it.

    Repeat after me.

The only thing signIficant in the history of Texas football is that they hired an Okie who played at OU. Royal took what he learned from Bud Wilkinson and propped up UT for a short stint.

Vince Young's NC season should have never happened due to a phantom offensive interference call against Kansas of all people which gave the ball back to UT allowing them to score. Like Mangino said, we got cheated plain and simple.

So the only legitimate NC Texas ever had came at the hands of a Sooner showing them how it's done. You also can't dismiss UTs cheating during the Royal era either. If he'd been caught more than he was UT has no legit NCs.

Augie in baseball is a cheater. He leaves no stone unturned in cheating to get better.

Rick Barnes is funneling money to one and done NBA players or UT would be bottom dwellers in basketball like they were before he got there.

UT players are all treated like they joined a country club. Thats why they aren't tough and underachieve year after year.

Red, facinating but it has nothing to do with me.

Fascinating yes, but apparently you disagree.
