OU will play a Thursday night game this year on Nov. 7th at Baylor.

Has our team stooped so low that we have to take thurs. games just to get air time? Just kidding. What is the reason for a thursday game?

Football at Baylor Set For Thursday, Nov. 7
Sooners will meet Bears in primetime contest in Waco.

NORMAN, Okla. -- The Big 12 Conference announced Thursday that the University of Oklahoma football road game at Baylor will be played on Thursday, Nov. 7. The game will be broadcast to a national prime time television audience by either FOX or ESPN.
Further information regarding kickoff time and the network telecasting the game will be announced at a later date.
Oklahoma will enjoy an open date on Nov. 2 before its Nov. 7 contest at Baylor. OU has posted a 21-1 record against the Bears, including a 10-1 record in Waco, Texas.
The Sooners registered a 42-34 victory in last year's contest played in Norman.

I think it was a move by the conference. Just a TV deal. Good news for OU, is that they have a bye the week before so there won't be a five-day turnaround.

Also in this move: TX has 2 thursday games. Tech has 2. ISU has 1. TCU has 1. They are just trying to create good matchups for national telecast on Thursday nights. This is partly how we get paid more per school than other conferences.

I think it's a good deal. More national TX exposure (in the spotlight). Still plenty of time to prepare for Baylor. More time to prepare for Iowa State and a little bit of time each week to peek ahead to KSU and OSU. . .

Yep, DFW Sooners have historically traveled well to Waco. I can see a Friday vacation day in my future.

Is the SEC playing Thursday nights as well? I was planning on going to Waco on a Saturday. I am going to be pissed if we ever have to do this for a home game!

Look at it as a positive. Put in your request early, if you have to, to be off on Friday for a 3-day weekend AFTER we beat the green team!

Yea, this seems pretty "Louisville" of us.
But I'm not too angry - it's being imposed on us by the Big 12 lordship and there will be lots of eyes on us.

Actually they are bitching about it, too. They started last year with top 5 rated South Carolina opening on a Thursday. NFL has found it lucrative. It was only a matter of time.

I can remember about 3 years ago Stoops say OU will never play a non saturday football game and James was backing that up as well for a while.
It's a little sad to see that we are actually playing a crappy thursday game.

The Pac12 has been doing this for years as well. Big 10 had a Fri game last year.
