"With Nebraska trying to leave, we felt like we needed to send them out with a loss, and we did." -Ryan Broyles-
Is Wort faster then R. Favors?
Brown is a senior, his experience is huge. I believe our young receivers are just as talented, but you just can't beat the experience.
Personally don't see much drop off going from Wort to Bird in the middle. In fact against teams that run..I'd rather have Bird in the middle.
"You can come to Oklahoma and win championships or you can go somewhere else and watch us win championships"
The King-Barry Switzer
It was great to hear Stoops speak so highly of Justin Brown. I think if your a Sooner you have to be estatic about the addition of Brown. You add experienced and quality depth to the wide receiving core as well as having a talented punt returner that the Sooners really need since Ryan Broyles is gone.
I have no problem what so ever with other teams (and us) getting Pen State players. I can understand that fans have sympathy to the Pen State program. The general thought is to not taking this opportunity to exploit Pen State's roster and to make their situation even worse. But I honestly don't care about their program, it deserves to get punished. My only sympathy is toward the players on that school. Especially those seniors who have to go through something that totally not their faults. Inviting Pen State players to come play for us is actually helping them to get out of that black hole. Giving them a chance to be successful at a respectable program such as ours is what we should do. If I had a choice, I would open up the roster and take on how many that we can take 'til we are out of scholarships and then if they wish to walk on then that would be welcome too.
UTs PSU kicker's HS coach said that UT pursued Fera due to his mental toughness and reliability. I don't think you would ever get Mack to admit his staff poached one of Penn Sts players. He also would likely prefer that no one else let the cat out of the bag in the way Fera's HS coach did.
Is Mack getting ridden by the media about how the transfer went down? That's the problem with the OKC media. They are sharks trying to eat the Sooners.
Tramel is a POS!!
I like Wort a lot too but sometimes he overruns the play and they cut it back behind him after he gets blocked out. I have been impressed with Byrd when he was given meaningful playing time. The dude can play and I don't see a dropoff with him in there. Another thing is the middle was always exposed the way Brent would scheme his defense. Although a good LB can cover it, i.e. Curtis Lofton made a great tip away against Texas Jermichael Finley late in the game to prevent a 3rd down conversion. That is why I have always said good players show up in the big games with game changing plays. Travis Lewis failed to do that except for the Nebraska Conf. title game where he had a hand in back to back turnovers. That is one reason I did not see Travis as big of a player because he had a lot of tackles but never came up with huge plays when we needed them unlike Lofton.
