Everyone Wanted Change(s) - Yet Still Upset???

  • Everyone wanted all of these changes because God forbid the Sooners lose some key players on both sides of the ball which significantly contributed to 3 losses. Now when we are starting to see some of these changes, people are upset that too many players are leaving.

You can't have it both ways guys. You either want change or not. Stoops and co. would not let top talent leave nor would top talent want to leave.

When players leave, it is almost always due to:
    talent
    academics
    attitude
    drug tests
    playing time
    injury
    etc.

To date, the ONLY player we are losing that is a big loss is Brandon and quite frankly, RB is a very easy position to reload. Freshman can contribute at RB much more easily than many other positions plus there are interested JUCO RB's.

Changes are happening...be glad Bob and co. is at the helm. He is not sitting back and "letting" things happen. He is a winner and wants to bring home the NC.

  • People would often say we don't go after JUCO's...guess what? We are going after JUCO's too!!!

Good posts. Not only is change a constant for sports teams, it is their lifeblood. Every year at all levels, from middle school to the pros, programs are enriched and replenished by the infusion of promising new talent, replacing those who either fulfilled their promise or who have moved on for the multitude of reasons you named.

Certainly it's disappointing to lose players who do not pan out, but in this case it doesn't appear to be cause for alarm, panic, or hand-wringing. For me it's reason for hope, especially with regard to JUCOs, who often come ready to play immediately, and are in fact counted on to play right away.

It's the way the world works. And it often works very well.

  • I guess players leaving or being asked to leave does not constitute change. Change only counts when it's the change we want.

Everyone wants wins. Whether these changes are good..time will tell. It is however change, and clearly OU needed to make changes.

I guess your right, players leaving will help the special teams, and improve the OL/DL. And some of the coaching decisions.

Players leaving should help all those.

Clearly players leaving was what some some of the posters were talking about when they were asking if changes need to be made at OU.

  • To improve quality you generally cut the bottom 10 percent. Old Bob did even better, he cut 15 percent. Now, bring Mike back.

  • How do you know the same people who wanted change are the same people who are upset now about the transfers?

    Very True.

I assume Mathis Brothers is still the big furniture store in OKC. It used to be that the bottom 10% of their commissioned sales staff got fired every month. The didn't get that big by being laid back.

Just had a not-so-good customer service experience with the subject of your post. But it's good to be back home.

I know right from wrong. Wrong is the fun one.
