  • Well, I don't like hearing that! Either way, get well, don't rush, do it right.

  • A lot of uncertainty and vague details as of yet. Arthroscopy doesn't mean shorter healing time (necessarily) as micro-fracture surgery and many others use arthroscopy b/c it is minimally invasive.

If he had surgery, and it was soon after the injury, that can be a really good or really bad sign. Good in that there may not have been a lot of swelling which usually means the injury was less severe. Bad in that it was severe and required immediate attention.

If he was just getting some clean up work, he could be back in a few weeks. Anything beyond that as far as damage will take much longer (months).

  • Well this just sucks a big one. It looks as though OU isn't waiting for the season to start before the injury bug hits. Crap!! Get well soon Durron. But be sure you're 100% before getting back out there on the field. We don't want you have a re-injury. I'll be praying for ya.

  • Was he injured in the 7 on 7 drills? Hope he heals well, & stays off of it so we can get him back on the field. The chemistry he develops with Landry is absolutely critical this time of year. Good luck young man & we'll be praying for you.

  • Count me as one wishing praying for the best for this young man, what a way to start a star destined career.......we've just got to get rid of this "bug" we have about injuries to our players........I've asked before and wonder does anyone keep any records or research to see if we have more than "avg" amount of injuries to players, would love to know what the facts are; we all know injuries happen at all levels and every school, and maybe its that we pay so much attention to our guys, but sure does seem we have more than an average...........surely this has been looked at internally as no one wants to have them of course and will take whatever measures can be to avoid them......or is this the "nature of the beast" with all the non contact type injuries we have, and often it seems not even in pads.....oh well, nuff paranoia on my part.......I'll just think positive for what that's worth..........you know, positive we have a lot of injuries, LOL
anyway, Let's break this cycle, whatever it takes and to still be able to get the job done

Even if we did have more injuries (which I don't think we do...just an opinion though), this injury wouldn't necessarily count as a cause/effect...he was far to new for anything OU did to create the injury. i.e. S & C, over-training, etc.

This was either a fluke, weakness in the joint structurally, existing tear(s), etc. My educated guess is existing tears.

  • MOTHERPUSSBUCKET!!!! Geez it seems like we have been hit with the injury bug more than other teams. Do we need to sacrifice a longhorn or something to get the bad luck off our backs,knees,shoulders.....

I didn't say it was anything OU did, however he is one of OUr players now, and for whatever reason, which I tried to make clear so this kind of assumption would not be made.........but, the question still remains, do we/ou players have more than the avg. amount of injuries ? pretty simple, but when we get defensive as though there is no way it could be OUr fault, (again, I did not say it was), as if research determined we could do something different, it would be great; I bet Bob has asked the question, he would be foolish not to.
My question remains and I'm totally objective, as I have no idea and is why I ask the question.......anyone?
He is running "volunteer" 7 on 7 with Landry Jones, and other OU players as himself, but dare he not........if he wants to be on the right foot with the staff....sorry bout the pun

Well the size of the steak I had at dinner tonight must have taken care of a good portion of bevo. I'll finish the rest off in the next day or so & maybe that will change things.

Why don't you or Seven analyze it? If you want to know, I am sure the internet can help you research.

I would imagine nobody at OUI or OU is tracking that data quantitatively, rather they probably do more of a cursary qualitative approach.

I agree, it would be interesting to know but my feeling is we aren't an outlier in this regard.

  • If OU and others didn't run a huge amount of reps thru 7-on-7 during the summer, there would be zero chemistry/timing between QB and receivers. it is a must in this day and age. Knees and ankles can obviously get hurt during the route running with all the cutting, but it is a necessary evil.
