Once again, who said anything about not supporting him? I certainly didn't. I'll adjust...maybe not a crappy job overall, but at the very least a crappy job as it pertains to the OSU game. You'll never convince me that our coaching staff did a good job that week.

And loyalty? That's rich. He had many reasons for staying at OU over the years, but loyalty to the fans is certainly not near the top of the list. Bob Stoops is just like everyone else...looking out for number one. He's stayed here because he felt like it was the best thing for him, not because of loyalty.

It's obvious you will only be satisfied with an undefeated season and a national championship. So good luck with that.

Was! For about a half a season, things change and stuff happens but I think we will stand pat with Stoops if that is ok! Coach speak is fine and I have no problem with it, too many stupid questions are asked at the interviews with Bob and do not blame him for the sarcasm. Oh, and I think I heard it worded that "this team has a chance to be special" and they all do really so no lies there. Hope he says the same thing every year from here on out.

I'm sorry but to hell with the coach speak. I am also tired of Bob acting like the press are so far beneath him. He could get away with that when he was big game Bob but not so much now. Oh and I don't think EVERY team has a chance to be special. There are years when we have weaknesses & to sit and tell everyone that things will be great when they aren't only tends to make some folks a little angry. Switzer was not afraid to tell us if the offensive line was going to be a work in progress. Or if the defensive backs were going to have to learn on the job since they didn't have much experience. Why does Bob think he has to blow so much freaking smoke?

Now I can see Rover having a stroke so let me say that I'm happy we have Bob and wouldn't trade him but for perhaps Saban.

I hear what you are saying and guess I kinda understand and I do not get to listen to as many of the pressers that you guys do but I have been working here back in Oklahoma for about 7 months and have listened to as many as I can and I got to tell you some of the questioning is exactly that questioning (interrogation). Some ask relevant ones and I have heard so many asked and in a manner to draw a negative response from him. All I can say is IMO the sky is not falling and not happy with how the season turned out as well but I am smart enough to know that we have a great shot with him and his pride and ego will get us back on track. I think everyone is overreacting including myself at times, We went 15 years before him without sniffing a NC game and 1 for 4 with Bob in the last decade with more to come.

See, this is exactly what I was talking about in my earlier replies to this topic. Thank you for proving my point. Some of you people are so tied up in your obsessive love for OU football that you hear any criticism as hatred.

Someone says, "Wow...Stoops really did a crappy job this year. Didn't live up to his standard or the standards of OU football at all. And now it looks like there is a lot of unrest around the program, people are transferring, former players are publicly questioning the current team. He'd better get in gear and get this thing shaped up." Somehow, what people like you take from that is, "Bob Stoops is a moron! We should go undefeated and win the national championship every year and he's not getting it done! Fire his ass!!!!!!"

It's completely ridiculous. So all you are left to do is make vague references to unrealistic expectations that I never expressed. It's like you can't stand the thought that maybe, just maybe, Stoops made some wrong turns somewhere along the way and now has a small mess on his hands that will take some work to clean up. Whatever. I appreciate your loyalty, I guess.

You shot your mouth off quoting old players saying stuff about coaches like you were backing them. I put things in perspective and am NOT a fair weather fan, Stoops will be fine but good luck with your witch hunt! I will be paying attention to your future posts when things are glorious again!

Dude, you are either completely insane or completely devoid of reading comprehension skills. How, exactly, did I shoot my mouth off? I didn't quote any former players...I just said they are pissed about what is going on. I don't NEED to quote them because they are providing the quotes themselves IN PUBLIC. Did you hear James' interview with Rufus Alexander? Have you been following the stories about former player criticizing the team on twitter? Do some research before you start calling people to the carpet. And as far as your witch hunt comment goes, you've got the wrong guy. I never once said anything about firing any coach. You just cant' stand it that someone is saying something about OU other than "wow...aren't we great?!!??!"

And just to forewarn you, before you start monitoring my future posts, you had better go back and look at some of the ones from earlier this season because I've given props when they are due as well.

Hudson, you may or may not be making some good points. You may perceive a lot of things from your perspective. But, unless you have spoken to Bob Stoops and discussed these areas of character with him, you really don't know what his goals are and what his loyalties are. Or, maybe you have spoken to several of the assistance that have worked with Bob, to get there more realistic perspective. We tend to make pretty strong statements about peoples motives and character, when we only know them from a distance.

I'm not making any comments about his character. I'm being realistic. In fact, if he DIDN'T make these decisions based on what is best for his family, that's the point where I would question his character. It's not too hard to read between the lines.

I have talked to only two players out of hundreds that played for Stoops, Mills and Peters and while they are saying some changes need to be made there was also optimism that it will happen. Again criticism is part of the game and have had some myself but constructively. I do not question every single little thing said about Stoops or the program and the way this year turned out. I do not follow twitter! There are plenty of negative things to read here without going to another forum and my comprehensive skills are just fine. Bottom line is that some are on a which hunt or looking for an argument, what ever I do not care but it does sound to me like you are calling me stupid, can't read or some kinda crap like that so practice your comprehensive reading skills and read my posts regarding this stuff and you will know that I want to win as well but this shit is not just the fault of the coach IMO. By the way you can PM or IM me and I would be more than happy to meet and buy you a cold one to discuss OU football in an atmosphere where comprehensive reading skills and punctuation do not cloud the conversation, got nothing but wide open evenings working on the road.

IMHO, Hudson has some of the most objective and logical posts on this board.
Always apppreciate his football knowledge which is presented in a dispassionate fashion and without coaching associated character assassination.

I don't see where this "witch hunt" thing is coming from. You're taking the extreme views of about one half of one percent of fans and blanketing them over anyone and everyone who wants to see something done to correct the problems that are evident to anyone willing to look.

    Hudson310

  • CrimsonHeart said...

Serious question- who are the players still on the team who are "rumored" to be the problems?

And do you know for a fact that there were no attitude issues with any of the players that have transferred?

I find it quite likely that at least a player or two may have been encouraged to transfer, but I don't know anything for sure.

Just maybe the coaches are working to remove some bad apples, but the usual suspects are coach bashing about players leaving,

Maybe this does not apply to you, but to some on this board the coaches don't do ANYTHING right and the continual negative spin gets tiresome.

I didn't say I know anything for a fact. The OU program is locked up pretty tight. Very few people know anything for sure and we are all left to make some conjecture. And that goes both ways...people who assume Bob Stoops is a brilliant, infallible genius have no idea if his success is due to leadership from the players, great assistants, etc. But the most logical explanation (which I happen to believe) is that he's a really good coach and he knows what he'd doing. So I guess my point is this: why is it OK for people with no knowledge of the program to draw some logical conclusions and assume Stoops is absolutely going to do what is necessary to right the ship, but it's not OK for people with the same level of knowledge to draw some logical conclusions and point out problems.

I'm with you on one thing. People thinking he should be fired or wishing he would leave are clueless. But wouldn't you agree that there are people who take any kind of criticism or questioning of Stoops and his staff and treat the people who pose the questions/complaints as if they were demanding that heads roll?

There are a lot of the factors to this season and exactly what I am saying (or part of it any way) is we all see some but now are focused on the coaching portion because players are leaving and assistants are not fired to satisfy the angry mob or Stoops has not come out and gave a state of the union address to let the fans (that already think they know what is going on) know what is going on to earn favor! I myself would rather he stay at work doing what I feel he is doing now than spending his time groveling to the mob (time wasted). You cannot fix broken ankles, ACL's, broken toes, death of a player, busted shoulders, arrests, suspensions over night! And to me that is the biggest story to this season. Do not think for a second that I do not want this fixed either because I do and I am not about to go off half cocked and think just because I have season tickets or the greatest fan a live that Mr. Stoops owes me a tell all session specially when I think he is taking the bull by the horns. In case you missed it my opinion has also been one of complacency with the HC and staff but I could be wrong, I am not up Stoops ass just not freaking out yet. And I will say this one time again and read carefully! Criticize all you want it is everyone's right and I am not addressing you directly but there are many posts and threads that have gone overboard with this and it is not constructive criticism for the most part, I could be wrong about this because I do not know everything but one thing is for damn sure! We have the injuries next year like this past and we do not finish even close to 9-3 do not care who is coaching and that is a fact!
