If he is as good as advertised I don't see keeping him off the field. What could hinder that is: learning the offense, pass blocking and attitude. I have high hope for Damien Williams and I know Cale Gundy was like a kid in a candy store when he got D Will's commitment!!!

However, I believe that Finch, Millard, or Whaley could easily be a 1500 yd rusher behind a decent Run Blocking O Line. THAT'S the wildcard IMO.

I feel that this team will have a different look than last year, and dramatically so. With all the new wr's there is going to be a learning curve for everyone except Stills. And the wr position is a more complicated one than most, since OU has the hurry up offense as well. So, I would expect that OU will run the ball far more than they did last year, especially early in the season until the wr's get up to speed.

Lat year OU lost a lot when Whaley went down. Nothing against the players who played, because they did a good job with some subpar run blocking. But both Clay and Finch have some limitations, Millard was forgotten about. This year, if Whaley is healthy and with Damien there you will see a whole different running threat. Again, don't get me wrong, Clay and Finch are good players, and will make this a complete team offensively. But Whaley and Williams are a whole different animal, IMHO. OU did not use Millard as a power back last year, and part of that was because of inadequate OL play. But, this year I personally believe OU will have the best OLin the Big 12 (at least).

The real question is Ross. If he is as good as people are hearing then redshirting him will be difficult.

I do feel that OU is a contender for the MNC this year. And a huge part of that will be the rb talent. I have seen Williams play, and if he stays healthy, stays focused, and gets the opportunity he will be a superb back for OU.
His game fits the OU scheme very well.

Makes me wonder what in the world opposing defenses would do if Landry went down and all of the sudden they had Blake Bell to deal with in addition to all those running backs. Just a thought, I'm not hoping for Landry to go down.

This may help you determine what type of back you think he is.

I see him as more of a DM type back. i.e. a true all around back

I don't know that he can play as well as DM though. DM was special and maybe one of OU's top 5-7 of all time.

Not seen him play but have seen a bunch of footage...To me he's a Jerald Moore + a couple inches in height. I hope I'm right about that because JM was a fabulous RB for below avg. Sooner teams.

They would load the hell out of the box and stuff everything. Currently teams don't load the box and we still can't run it.

Wow, you seem to be insinuating that Bell can't pass at all. I'm assuming that he is at least an adequate enough of a passer to keep defenses from "loading the hell out of the box". I have to think he can run our current offense and add the threat of a quarterback that can run the ball. If not, go ahead and move him to tight end.

canyoneer is spot on as always. millard was vastly under used last season . let's hope that mistake doesn't happen this season .
