DT is solid position for this team.

  • People are making to big a deal about the DT's I rewatched the game last night and they were very solid. They didn't generate the push we would all probably like, but they were holding the line and not giving ground. They did apply some pressure as well one example Walker shot right through and forced Kinne to just throw it out of bounds. Now where TU had their small success running the ball was between the tackle and the end and was mostly the LB's fault for over running or filling the wrong lane. We will be just fine though as we are adding McGee to the mix and eventually T.Lewis as soon as he's healthy. It's one game guys step back from the ledge.

  • I hope you are right. I've only watched the game once, but I don't recall our DTs doing much. Perhaps getting McGee back in the mix will be the key. Having watched the FSU game, most of Manuel's problems came when he was pressured...we'll need our DTs to do that for us.

  • I also hope you are right but remember who they played. If they hold the line against FSU then we have something. McGee and Phillips (when ready) will certainly help.

  • Quite possible, as has been indicated before, We didn't want to show alot to Florida State. We will probably seen a more aggressive defensive line play when we play Florida State.

Agree. EJ will see a more agressive OU defense than Kinne did. Much more.

  • If our committee of DTs can consistently clog the middle, stuff the run, keep the o-line off our LBs, and occasionally provide pressure they'll be doing an effective job. It would be nice to have another Gerald McCoy but I don't think there's one on campus.

  • I'm looking for BV to have the defense jacked up. I can't wait for this game!

Actually, I think that's the kind of player that the coaches expect Jordan Phillips to become.

  • Well, I am praying that Phillips is not another Dampeer! Tremendous athlete and no discipline. Maybe the coaches need to show him some film of Moe and where he wound up.

  • Where did you get the idea that Jordan is not disciplined? Haven't heard that. Just out of shape.

  • High octane offense cures a lot until you are in a close low scoring game, then defenses win championships. I don't see a stifling defense in the making, although I do see a pretty good one. I'm not confident we can win low scoring games. DT is the missing piece so far, and safety is still questionable, but correctable--hopefully. I'm hoping Philips or someone else big makes it into the rotation somehow, by the Texas game.

With Philipps missing all of fall camp and not being in playing shape it is a little much to hope for or expect any contribution until he has had a couple of months to adapt. I would be very happy if he could start making a contribution by the aTm game on November 5, Provided, of course, the coaching staff want to use his freshmen year for only 5 games.

  • Stoops indicated McFarland and Walker did a.great job during the game. I think I will put more.weight on his opinion than any of the posters.

  • How close is Aladenoye to playing defensive tackle in a game? I know he is behind technique wise but I don't know how far behind.
