James, what's your feel for how Mike is going to use Corey Nelson? This time last year, he was looked at as the next great thing, but his season seemed to have mixed results. He has great speed and athleticism, and he made some great plays, but he seemed to lack the toughness and grit needed to take on blocks, fit gaps, and take on ball carriers. Consistency and technique seemed to be lacking. It doesn't seem like I've heard as much about him this off-season. I'm just curious to see if there will be some changes from Venables to Kish/Stoops in how they use him. Obviously, this is a subjective question. Just wondering what your thoughts are as camp opens.

Starting WILL backer.
Corey was still a young guy last year, even though he played as a true freshman. He was used in so many ways and was often just sent after the QB from a hybrid position, that he is just now REALLY learning the defense OMO. I think our DTs if they are better will make BOTH of our LBs look better! Now how will Mike and Coach Kish use him?
In a two LB set will we see Corey with Wort? I bet we do!
lol... people are taking this preseason way too serious.. I mean how does any coach utilize their players? gap responsibility, fighting off blockers, recognizing pass plays and getting back to your required area.. If he stunts, stunt hard and make a play.. good grief its not rocket science
OK, smart guy....not sure why it is taking things too seriously to ask if the new defensive coordinator is going to make changes to the defense. Last year, they talked about him being used like a rover backer, playing him at DE, blitzing him from all over, moving him around into lots of positions to keep the offense off guard, etc. I'm just wondering if Mike was going to do the same or play him more as a traditional Will backer.
