heard a rumour OU is comnig out with chrome helmets. Any truth to this ?
........god I hope not! There's already this stupidity with the striped stadium.........I prefer tradition, not gimmicks. Wear the crimson on the field and your crimsom coat in the stands. No changes except a lot of noise.
God, I hope not.
I hope to see the traditional helmets as well...
But if the university asks for fan support in the form of striping the stadium why not just go with it? It would only help the overall atmosphere at this game.
Not sure why people are ripping this idea unless they are too cheap or too lazy to go buy a $5 shirt.
While I do like the idea of "striping" the stadium I do think that it isn't necessary. If memory serves me correctly in 2008 it was Bob Stoops "calling out" of the fans that created the atmosphere that day. I was wearing my crimson hoodie like I always did and do not remember OU telling fans to wear a certain color. However, I am not against "striping", "white out", or "crimson out". I do think it will create a great atmosphere for the game and will help with recruiting. We just need to do one thing... WIN!

Stoops also called out the fans for the KState game this year and honestly it wasn't very loud. So unfortunately, just b/c Stoops calls out the fans for not being loud, it doesn't always work. (Was at both this year's KState game and the 2008 TTech game.)
Chrome helmets, we could become the Oregon Ducks of the Southwest...................NOT.
I get the feeling you're the same cocklip who bitches about the wave.
Mention of chrome helmets came in a post concerning a white OU helmet of e-bay. One poster said he'd rather see us go to chrome if we tried anything new.
If we tried anything one-off for Notre Dame, I'd like to see us wear USC uniforms.
Or just play like humorless Lutherans.
To each his....... Sorry, don't do the wave, chrome helmets, guys, or pick which freeking helmet the ball is under. Go SOONERS!!!!
No, No Hell no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That's pretty funny.
Plus up. Finally someone with perspective and understanding of what is the important part of this Saturday night. WIN!
Stripes are fine. Stripes or not I see too many in my section each game who either stand or sit there every game and never cheer or yell even when the team first comes out. To me crowd noise will help the team 100 times more than a series of voiceless stripes. Crowd noise is the best thing we can do as Sooner fans to get us to a WIN!!!
It's that simple.
I don't disagree one bit, but if the "stripes" work it can only lend to the environment more and potentially get fans and players even more fired up - hopefully meaning more noise. "Stripes" certainly won't hurt, and maybe it will help a little, so I'm all in.
I also agree with your other point. Two years ago I sat behind an OU fan at the Texas game who spent all his energy yelling at our coaches and/or Landry every time a play didn't go great. He never stood up. He never got loud for the defense. He barely cheered for scoring plays. It was borderline disgusting.
Huh?? The KSU game was very loud.
The answer to the rumor is no.
