This board says we are at 22. Down a couple from last week. However, on Friday, james told a caller we were at 30.

Rankings are worthless, IMO
OU actually has a pretty good class? OU just doesn't have the numbers, many teams above have almost 20 , and many are two star recruits.
Then there are the recruiting juggernauts like Bama and UGA, UF, we just won't catch up with them?
I do believe that OU finishes with a solid class, but something is wrong, OU spends a lot of money on recruiting, and should always be top 10.
Shipp has totally whiffed, and Patton and Kittle's are just not good enough at recruiting to go National.
Put more effort into recruiting Texas and this problem can go away, you can cherry pick National recruits, but you have to hit Texas, Oklahoma , Kansas and Missouri.
Gundy is our recruiting CO , and he should have some serious questions for Jackie Shipp, he is missing bigtime!

OU has some very good commits at this time. However they need more, especially at the positions of greatest need such as DL, OL and LB. It will be very tough for OU to have great success in the future because of the improvement of the Tx A&M, Baylor, and local OSU programs lately. And TCU joining the Big 12 will help them in the DFW area.
We should be so lucky to have UT's recruiting rankings and records right? We are jealous of them winning another conference crown and going to a prestigious bowl....right?
I for one would rather celebrate our 10 or 11 wins and our conference championships than a 10th place recruiting ranking.
I agree that recruiting rankings do not amount to much. UT can have all the top ranked classes they want, but they still do not have a QB. However, I think recruits do pay attention to recruiting rankings.
Our class is not terrible, it is just not up to where it should be. Unfortunately, we have absolutely struck out on the DL and OL spots. OU's defense works and can shut teams down if they have a good DL....i.e. a DL that commands 2 lineman to block him. When our DT's can be blocked by one guy, it frees up the OL to attack our LB's, which this year and last cannot take on a OL block if their life depended on it. This is one of the reasons why our defense has been punished by some teams.
The OL has definitely been hurt by injury, but again, when is the last time we were a dominant run team, in particular, when we play a stout defense. If we do not pick up recruiting of the big guys we will continue to be a 10-2, 9-3 or 8-4 type team.
The ranking doesn't concern me nearly as much as the fact that we have completely whiffed on positions of absolute need. We have now resorted to calling players who are committed to other schools; players who were not a part of the plan at the beginning of the recruiting season. What happens if we can't turn kids from Iowa State, Arizona State, and Wisconsin? We going to start calling kids that are committed to Tulsa and Tulane and try to get them to switch?
So, are you saying NO good players go to Tulsa or schools like that? Seems to me they have sent players to the league also. Judge the PLAYER and not just where they want to go to school. First, our coaches get criticized because they take too many prima donnas and not enough hard working players who have more desire but less stars...an now we will criticize them if they DO take some of those. Why don't we wait and see who works out and who doesn't and not resort to simplistic evaluations based on stuff that may not be important at all. BTW, didn't ISU have two all B12 linebackers this year. Think it would have been good if we would have turned those a couple of years ago?
The point, oh wise and all-seeing one, is that we are missing on the guys we want. That CAN'T be a good thing. Get a freaking life.
Typical. We have high rated classes and everyone bitches we need more Oklahoma and Texas players. We have a lower ranked class this year but stock piled on Oklahoma and Texas kids and everyone bitches. But hey, let's continue to disrespect those kids who have committed to being Oklahoma Sooners.
Really? How can you miss a point so badly?

I'm a real adult fan, not like all you other spoiled babies. You don't know anything about me, but I can make wild accusations about you.
What's the point then? Other than another thread bitching about our recruiting?
To answer the original question, this site always lists the recruiting position on the home page.
Dude, why are you in such an attack mode? We all know you think our coaches have sucked at recruiting. Not everyone shares in your opinion. You don't need to take your frustration out on him.
So why bother? Other then just to bitch about the people bitching about recruiting.
What are you talking about? All that guy does is shadow other people and attack them for having an opinion that is different than his. Go see for yourself...it's not hard to notice.
Because its every thread. It always goes from good football related thread to hijacked by whining and calling for coaches heads. Hate to break it to you fellas but the state of Oklahoma for people under 25, sucks. It's not just about getting kids to buy into your program, its about getting them to buy into your program, the state, academics, distance, etc. Yet everyone on here thinks its so easy. It's irritating and embarrassing.
Yep those Tulsa teams have so many good players that in our last three games with them we have only beaten them by a combined 154-35. OU should not be in a situation where we are trying to poach players off of Tulsa to fill our needs.
Well it gets really old to click on a thread and constantly see all the whining and bitching that goes on here. I guess a lot of people don't have anything better to do with their lives. I've seen an increase in this since the boards have merged. And yes, I do use the ignore button. the problem is 1) a lot of times posts are quoted and I still see the drivel by some, and 2) I've got so many on ignore that at times there's maybe just a few posts visible on a thread that might by 3+ pages. Not sure its worth paying to see this crap anymore. Really, the only reason why I still come to this board is for the reporting and information and for a handful of members that have solid viewpoints or info.

Pretty much. I just saw a stat and was shocked. UT is 14-16 against FBSAQCONF teams the last 3 years.
Their recruiting rankings the last 5 years - 2008 #16, 2009 #7, 2010 #3, 2011 #3, 2012 #1 per SCOUT.
#5, #3, #3, #2, #2 per Rivals.
"Recruiting rankings are not worth the paper they are printed on".
Just about any FBS football coach, with the possible exception of Mack Brown and a few others.
I was thinking that since we swung and missed on so many players this year (OL/DL) that we'd go after JUCO; looking at OT, OG, and C JUCOs I don't really see that we're in on more than one or two guys, and we're not even at the top of their list. Getting pretty depressing, especially when you take a look at what USC is doing this year. Man for man compare their class to ours, and then tell me that recruiting rankings don't matter.
