They could use Darlington at center and move Ikard to guard if necessary.
Poor Nila, guy can't get a break.
Stoops just confirmed it was an ACL tear per the MRI Nila had today. Tough break. Best wishes the Nila as he recovers.
My preference, instead of 8 OL per class, would to be to recruit enough large DTs (and maybe TEs) that they could switch to OL if they fail to thrive at their original position. Failed OLinemen are seldom any good anywhere else. DLinemen (even sometimes injured ones like Jammal Brown) still have the quickness to switch to OL and make it.
Think of the guys who became good OLs who came in as TEs (Chris Bush, Chris Chester, Josh Tucker (briefly), Gabe Ikard, Lane Johnson and Eric Mensik.) DTs (Davin Joseph, Jammal Brown and Brian Simmons.) DE (Frank Romero) And Chris Messner was a QB in high school.
Of course I'd like best to get the program running on top prep prospects, but we've been able to fill in well (except recently) with Juco transfers.
